Warning Vodafone $40 Sim Expiry Changed from 35 Days to 28 Days (Port in-out needs 30 days)

I have recently bought Vodafone $40 Prepaid sim from Coles. On the package it showed 35 days expiry on the label, which was good consider half price I paid.

However, when I actually tried to activate, Vodafone has removed 35 day expiry plan from system. And they replaced it with $40 Prepaid Plus, which has 30GB data, 1.5 Mbps after the limite reach, 28 day expiry.

If you try to port in and out you will require at least 30 days

So be careful when you buy because the sim card package with old label still being sold in Coles.

I contacted Vodafone, they cannot extend the sim expiry but I can go back and return it if I cannot accept that.

    Ok.

  • they cannot extend the sim expiry but I can go back and return it if I cannot accept that.

    Thanks for the heads up.

  • $40 starter pack has 50GB data in the 1st 28 days now.

New feature added: Infinite data - speeds of up to 1.5Mbps is better than the loss of 7 days for many people.

I hold some previously bought $30 starter packs, but thank Vodafone for the change.

$30 ones are of the best value now as it was for 28 days anyway.

  • Updated, if you required to port in and out you will need 30 days. Therefore 28 days SIM is nolonger working.

    • Vodafone adopted this from Kogan?

Actually, it does not matter for one having multiple SIMs. And you can reply to the SMS from Kogan/Vodafone for porting purpose even on an expired SIM now.

Example: Optus for 28 days, 3 expired days. On the 31st (up to the 180th) day, reply to the SMS back to Kogan/Vodafone.

      • You mean that you can reply the SMS using different mobile number? I never knew before. Thanks.

        • On an expired but active same SIM.

          • @Neoika: Can you still send out SMS if your sim already expired?

            • @codingNothing: Yes, only for porting purpose. I did this twice already. Kogan/Vodafone made the arrangement with other Telcos.
