Inflated Sale Price Kogan Fortis Magnetic Flywheel Spin Bike SK-600

Hi I was looking for exercise equipment when I came across this from Kogan.

https://www.kogan.com/au/buy/fortis-magnetic-flywheel-spin-b…
It says it was $599.99 reduced to $299 plus shipping.

Anyway I googled the bike and came across this post from Ozbargain which is dated a year ago.
https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/505681
It says the RRP is $349 and sale price is $179.99 and free delivery?

When you click on the go to deal link on Ozbargain is takes you to this address
https://www.dicksmith.com.au/da/buy/fortis-magnetic-flywheel…

Which then comes up with you guessed it, 50% off, from $599.99 to $299 plus shipping.

Wow I'm not sure if the price on Ozbargain was correct but this is what I came across

To my knowledge there is a given period the ACCC advises that product needs to be advertised at before a retailer can advise Was/Is. Can't remember the period off hand, but this is where retailers get caught out of that don't retail it long enough at the higher price before discounting.

Yes, if the seller cannot substantiate the RRP, they will be found out.

Meanwhile, as a consumer, if not happy with the (sale) price, don't buy it.

It's Kogan so don't be surprised.
They have been fined twice for this kind of practice and pretty sure they haven't learnt the lesson.

  • I’m interested in this bike. But I saw the same with the post saying $179 and free delivery. Why should I pay so much more now? Guess I have to wait to the next Black Friday or what big event is coming up?

  • Now it’s back for 299 with free shipping use code FREESHIP on Kogan.
