  • I saw this last night and it tempted the hell out of me.

Only hesitation is that DJI don't do international warranty.

So, is the $150 saving, worth the warranty on a device you cant diy repair?
    Thats the question….

    • I feel ya mate. Thus the question :)

If bought on AMEX, would that help?

      • Do banggood support amex?

I mean, you can just post it back to china; but after a return or 2, you'll have spent $50+ in shipping anyway, and the effort vs saving starts to come into question.

        • It does look like they do, or through paypal in any case.

      • No amex, will not cover purchases from business not in Australia.

I had this issue when I tried to claim purchase back as the seller failed to honor warranty.

They only cover for sellers and purchases within Australia. It is in the policy. CHUBB I think are the underwriters.

        • Thanks ! appreciate the advice

  • Saw a Youtube video about this camera and how it can only be powered on 5 times before you need to connect to an app with mandatory registration, otherwise it bricks itself until you do so. Ugh…

I kinda understand why drones need to do it for compliance etc. but this is just a camera

    • Yeah, silly; i assume its just to register the serial for waranty periods.

Still bloody stupid. But I guess you only have to do it once.

Drones don't need to do it either. DJI does it for marketing purposes.

And if you ever sell the camera, there is no process to de-register the device from your DJI account. I would suggest never giving DJI your real information when creating an account, or just stick to brands that don't enforce this registration crap. There's more interesting options for drones and cameras now anyway.

      • There's not really a mini-gimbal camera competitor; even the up-and-comings use tiny sensors. i was there was though.

Dji has been added to USA's "entity" list, so, yeah, good ol trumpy-boy decided he didnt trust them for some reason.

Or, if trump wasnt involved; perhaps there's an actual concern. Who knows.

Hi, can this be used with FaceTime or WhatsApp Video calls?
Would love to use it as a portable camera for video calling ?

    Thanks

    • no

      • Oh, thats an odd feature for them to drop from the first version. You just used to run Cosmostreamer, and good to go.

Any idea why they axed the feature?

        • It's not officially supported, but you're free to throw something together and make it happen…

  • This or the Fimi Palm?

DO NOT BUY ANYTHING FROM BANGGOOD. THEY HAVE A TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. You'd be lucky if you received your item intact.

    • +2

Ive spent more than ten grand with them over thousands of products.

Just remember, they're an asian store, so naturally distrustful of consumers by comparison to western shops.

So long as you follow usual 'asian shopping' rules; like videoing the unboxing, and first turn on, and reporting faults early, not 'eventually'; ive never had an issue.

Of all the big asian retailers, bangood come in a close second, only losing to xtxinte to me, in regards to customer service.

      • Ordered a chair and received with no wheels. Reported in 15 minutes of opening it but they wouldn't send the wheels neither refunding and accepting the return. Just offering coupons. One day they say they are sending wheels on other day they say it will take 2 months to send the wheels. No respect for customer's time or money, just playing email back and forth games. They have chairs in stock but wouldnt send the chair instead if they cant send just the wheels. I am not asking them to send another chair for free but at least be reasonable but no.

        • Thats unfortunate; paypal will have your back in that scenario though.

While not ok, the reason they'll have said no, is because they're a pick-and-pack warehouse, not a factory.

They would literally have had to open another product and have IT missing wheels then. Damned if they deny (one pissed of customer), damned if they help (another 'missing wheels' product created).

Also; yeah their email staff can be hit or miss; shoulda just phoned them. Ive always had wonderful support on the phone.

    • I purchase many items from AliExpress and had no issues, one defective item out of 20 and they refunded straight away, less can be said for eBay and PayPal, nightmare to get resolution about item purchased from China also

  • I got creator combo from gguys 10% off sale plus cash back worked out about $700. Very happy with it so far, great low light performance and adjusts exposure well when moving from light to dark space

    • Thats what I wanna hear :D

I want one for car-meets, which usually happen at night, so the old dji was pitiful.

Ironically; the fimi palm was better; because even with a SMALLER sensor, it used to crush low detail to black (low dynamic range); so it was either enough light, or black. Not grainy mess.

The new pocket 2 looks like everything the 1 should have been… why they EVER used such a tiny sensor is beyond me.
Its not a size thing; mobile phone sensors aren't big (even the big ones, lol)

      • yes my only gripe is the fact your need to get the creator kit to access wifi. All the other stuff in the creator kit i didnt need just want to connect to my phone so i can take photos remotely. The do it all handle is good for grip but pain when you are carrying around in short or pants pocket because its so long.
