So we had a pleasant surprise when our 11-year old daughter won the end of year IT Award at school for her coding work. No idea where she got it from as we're both clueless, but wondering if there is any good recommended online stuff that we could link her up with over the school holidays as she seems to really enjoy it. She is in year 6 next year, so any recommendations around that late primary early high school level would be great!

There are BIG BIG BIG incentives to promote women in IT, BIG…
If she's interested in doing IT, it's better if she builds a solid algorithm and data structure skills.
Since she already won an IT award at school, I don't see why she can't do the occasionally free Udemy courses: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/deals/udemy.comThere's a free Python course atm. Only takes 5 hours. Try it on the weekend to see if she's interested.

https://girlswhocode.com/I would recommend that you have a look at robotics projects using an Arduino or similar. This combines practical real world stuff with the coding so I think it will keep her engaged longer. It's very easy for enthusiasm to fizzle out with online courses (personal experience as an adult). Here are some examples of projects. Also have a look at Robogals who run workshops for school children. I believe you can ask them to come to your school but even if you just email your local chapter and ask for some resources they should be able to help you.
Thanks mr-incredulous, great advice…will definitely check it out!
A google search of “hour of code” will get you to a bunch of free web based coding.
Scratch.mit.edu is awesome (also free)Thanks for the suggestions everyone, definitely some great places to have a look around over the summer holidays!
