  • Why? is there more info, was it due to the delays or pricing?

  • +2

the way this is worded…. even if you do not want to refund the game they are going to be refunding it regardless and remove the game

    • +2

I think it’s more that the game isn’t available to purchase anymore.
Those who already bought the game can either ask for a refund or opt to keep it.

      • +4

Guess CP2077 is a timed Xbox Exclusive for now

  • +3

It's an absolute piece of shit. I had a copy pre-ordered from EB Games, played it for 3 days and realised it was unplayable. Took it back to EB for a full refund and got Demon's Souls instead, now that's a game.

    • +1

Demon's Souls is incredible. I have been playing it non stop since release.

      • +3

It's my first time playing a Souls game. Fiendishly difficult and unforgiving but oh so satisfying when those huge Demons fall!

        • +1

That's unreal - you are going to love the games.

    • Demon Souls is epic… but too easy when you do not have all the grainy and blurry graphics of the original

      good starter "souls" game though

  • Holy moly what a disaster for CDPR and gamers in general!

  • -1

So if you have bought it digitally and they refund you - can you still play it locally?

    • They'll likely lock you out of being able to start the game even offline.

    • the game is deleted from your account if you get a refund

  • +17

    Fallout 76 = Fail
    Cyberpunk 77 = Fail

If there's any game developers out there, don't use the number 78 in your upcoming title. Thank me later.

    • or 3rd time lucky?
      .

    • shoulda used 69…

    • the big test is how long they take to fix it

Bethesda ignored the issues for 6 months easy
CDPR appears to be working quickly to resolve the issues.

Do people not remember the dumpster fire of a game Witcher 3 was on launch

    • +2

Interstate '76 was a great game though.

  • Don't tell me this has passed Big Rigs: Over the Road Racing in the hall of shame.

    • But, that game was garbage and will forever be garbage, whereas Cyberpunk 2077 I think has the chance to redeem itself.

So maybe, No Man's Sky? I've heard that it got better with lots and lots of patches.
It is within the realms of possibilities.

      • NMS is great but after playing it for quite a few hours it still seems… empty. Maybe that's a good vibe, though. Universe's a big place.

        • -1

          Universe's a big place.

There were 2 streamers on launch day that managed to be on the same planet. It is not that big.

      • Still unforgivable even if 3 years from now it turns into the game they promised. Imagine if a director released a terrible movie then kept editing it for three years to fix it, he would not be considered a competent director surely. A big time and money waster.

        • I remember people almost threatening to kill the developer for no man's sky and people were outraged by the game, and now people seem to be OK with the game now. NMS developers in my opinion were more malicious in how they portrayed their game.

I am not trying to defend CD Projekt Red, because they messed up big time and they could've avoided all this. That said, I think I see the history repeating itself.

          • @iridiumstem: Cyberpunk can still be what they promised, but it’ll be a different game, a three year old different game. Where will they get the money to fix it if they already thought it was done?

            • @AustriaBargain: I think NMS example I gave you already is a case of a developer fixing the mess that they made. I genuinely thought NMS was going to be one of the biggest flops that end with the studio shutting down. They somehow came back from the mess that they made.

I remember hearing about all these things that Sean Murray has said that weren't in the game, people protesting and complaining. Lawsuits on false advertisements, etc etc. Huge outrage. People refunding the game on steam, etc etc.

CDPR promised to patch it, they said something that the CEO probably should have talked with MS and Sony with, now they are in worse mess than they were in before. I am just going, eh, this is a train wreck that I have seen before. I think they put themselves in this mess in the first place, they should've either not set a release date or made sure that the game ran reasonably on all platforms they were going to release (even if it means dropping the supports on the older generation consoles).

Whether they will get out of this train wreck or not, I dunno. It's within the realm of possibilities. I don't think this kind of train wreck is the first nor the last that we will see in the game industry is all I am saying.

              • +2

@iridiumstem: I'm just kind of annoyed because I thought this game is what I was going to be doing for a while. Finding out that Cyberpunk is no better than anything Ubisoft could pump out is like being dumped by a new girfriend, you thought you were going to have a lot of good times in the months ahead. Or more like finding out the Tinder gf you been talking to for seven years was actually a dude when you finally meet in person. A fat and hairy dude at that.

  • Has anybody that bought it for $59 via ebay sales recently returned the game? If so - did you go through ebay or gamestop?

    • I'm still waiting for mine to be delivered. Stuck with AusPost

  • +3

No major problems on PC so far…

    pcmasterrace!

    • Going good on PC. Memory leak is definitely a thing, though - FPS noticeably degrades after a long sesh. Bothersome to have to restart the game

    • tfw ur $2k pc beats a $300 console
tbh tho shouldn't have released on ps4 in this state

      • people with last-gen tier PCs are still running it fine.
A lot of 1060 owners are playing it at 1080p reasonably well.

    • +3

What about there being no corpo/etc. path? They let you choose at the start, but they never bothered making the other two paths so it doesn't matter in the slightest. You get an extra line of dialogue sometimes, but they didn't bother to adapt any of the other dialogue to the other two paths. So if you choose corpo, you'll frequently find yourself talking about corpos as if you'd never been near one in your life because that's the only path they actually fleshed out. The game they shipped, ignoring bugs and graphical problems, is not at all the same game they have been marketing for years now. People deserve their refunds on all platforms.

      • +1

That's the real problem, it's not the bugs as they will be fixed, it's the highly deceptive content.

    • Ditto XB:X

Waiting for the price to drop on this so I can have a go on PC. Its shameful that they hyped it up so much and it turned out that way.

Looking at the reviews, it should never have been released for any of the last gen consoles.

    • Dogs breakfast on last gen xbox, crashed/glitched three times, got my money back.

      • Good that you got your cash back, the game isn't fit for purpose on those consoles. I've heard it even crashes on top spec PCs as well so you aren't alone in that regard.

  • I had zero confidence in CD Projekt, never thought Witcher was as good as people say.

So glad I never bought in. But I think the big focus on Keanu was fairly telling just how bad the game was going to be. You follow the game market long enough and these are classic signs to bail out.

Witcher 3 really is a great RPG. But the two games that came before it are kinda crummy. Kinda real crummy. Witcher 3 wasn't a sign of Projekt Red having matured, it was just like blind luck. Like when you don't know how to cook a meal, but sometimes you throw things together randomly and it comes out perfect. You don't know how you did it and you can't replicate it though, so when people ask for seconds your new persona of being a master chef is quickly revealed to be a big fraud on the world and investors. Even when you have seven years time to prepare for the second meal.

  • +1

Runs well on a good PC, playing on patch 1.04 and some minor errors but runs really well, 60 fps 4K using a 3070 and med detail, RTX off.

Kinda dumb releasing such a title on a 7 year door stop and deceptive not showing how it actually runs on PS4.

Another product of the ship now, fix later culture.

  • Played on PS5 and just finished one of the endings. The game definitely has its good moments, but then again it crashed during the end credit so yeah, needs work.
Will revisit when/if PS5 build comes out.
They really should have skipped PS4/Xbone and gone straight to new gen consoles.
