Update
I ended up getting the bunnings evakare bidet for $370 I think (power pass).
Contrary to another review on here I reckon its comfy, only complaint is that the hum when you sit on it is louder and it beeps when you use any functions.
The only toilet I could get the evakare bidet to fit was the ikaria toilet from my local ken's plumbing. No bunnings toilets would fit without big overhang. The bloke in bunnings said that was normal for them not to fit properly.
The whalespout didn't fit the ikaria, or any other toilet I could find in my travels.
Here is a gallery in case you want to see how it looks
Hey guys
TLDR No toilets fit the whalespout bidet.
I wanted to share my experience this week and ask if anyone has solved this issue.
I have used the whalespout bidet for about 6 months in an old toilet in my govvo house, not worrying about if it looked good or not, but the bidet fitted and the seat opened etc easily.
We've purchased a home and are buying new toilets.
I have had endless issues finding a toilet that is long enough to suit the bidet even so far as checking every toilet at Kens plumbing with a plumber and their manager, I've also taken measurements of all toilets in bunnings. They have concluded that the bidet is not designed for shorter Australian style toilets.
- The depth out from the wall of all toilets causes the bidet to overhang the front of the toilet leaving a 3-7cm gap under the seat showing the top of the bowl, this occurs with squarer close coupled toilets and normal rounder back to wall toilets. Back to wall toilets are only about 10mm too short, but the seat hits the cistern and falls down unless the bidet is at it's most forward setting, which causes a 40mm-ish gap instead of the 10mm.
- my pan is too close to the wall so the bidet cannot open without hitting the cistern and shutting again (I've tried offset pan connectors but it does not solve the overhang problem).
- Neither the regular back to wall shape or the close coupled shape match the bidet.
I know whalespouts or so popular on ozbargain, what toilets are you using?
On a more positive note, bunnings has a new bidet in stock, from an australian accessibility brand, presumably fitting Australian toilets.
I've heard these are good for non smart:
