Should I buy this TV (Sony Bravia KDL46EX520) or can I get better for under $1000?

  Samsung 51" 3D plasma from this year = $800 ish, not hard to find:

  Each come with one pair of glasses, though you said this wasn't really an issue.

  For a tad smaller but LED type instead, I'd consider either of these (both 100Hz):

  Choosing the Samsung for picture quality, or the LG for passive 3d & 4 glasses included.

  Shop around a little for a good price though, I've seen the LED Samsung above for 800ish, and the LG for 830 delivered, a decent saving on the BBB prices.

  I have a panasonic, its great. My sales person friend said do not get the sony unless its top model.

  For the OP and others also… was out doing the rounds yesterday and there was some hot deals on offer with TVs.. one was 42" LG plasma for under $500. Be prepared to offer a silly price and you may be surprised… :-)
