Security that respects your privacy
SmartThings Vision is a unique in-home monitoring solution. Unlike a traditional camera, it captures only outlines so you keep your privacy, then alerts you through the SmartThings app. Technology that's also a part of your living space, coming in a minimal design that blends in with your everyday.

Think it was $44 a few weeks ago when JB was clearing out all the smartthings stuff. This must the the last of the lot.
Needs the hub - useless on its own.
I picked one up this morning and it works fine with my s20
You are correct. My bad.
According to the description though
"*Requires SmartThings Hub or compatible device with SmartThings Hub functionality, home internet"
So some functions need the hub, probably motion detection alerts.
I am not sure that any functions require the hub (but happy to be proven wrong). There's a few Samsung Smartthings devices which work 100% without a hub (such as soundbars and TVs).
@mingofmongo: No idea TBH - there's very little real info on the internet on this device. Even the Samsung website is full of marketing waffle.
Does it record actual video or just outlines. If outlines only and you don't have a hub it doesn't look terribly useful even if you can connect to it with your phone.
No it doesn't. I have one and it's pretty useless, especially for outside when it gave almost all false positive. It will record detection in 12 seconds clip and give you free access on the clouds for 24 hour, pay more if you want longer but given Samsung just gave up their smart things I doubt these services will be here for long.
The device only record ir blurred out clips and cannot give you anything clearer than a shape of human or animal, you won't be able to tell if that is a cat or possum lolIt's a bit harsh criticising a product for doing exactly what it says on the box which in this case is to de-identify video data for the purpose of basic motion capture. The product intention also seems much more sharply focused on indoor. What do you mean Samsung gave up Smartthings - they seem to be more opening it up on all the news I've seen lately including better Google integration?
Samsung sold the hardware side off so they won't be producing their own line of sensors.
Thanks OP. Just bought one.
And the power is from?
the people
Included micro USB charger
Ghost detector
I am the type of guy that usually buys weird sh.. for no reason
and even I am saying what's this for 😐And that's why JB (and samsung) can't shift them. I'd probably grab 1 for $10 just to play with and take apart but otherwise they can stay on the shelves.
So whats the bargain here
