Vue de monde

I want to take 2 friends of mine to vue de monde as a wedding gift.
Im aware of the price, any tips on
1. What time of day is the prettiest?
2. Is it possible to get the price reduced? (dreaming 😂)

I would recommend Navi. Vue de monde is overrated.

    • Vue de monde is overrated

With people like this, it cant be!

      Agree. Would also consider Attica

      • Agree. The wine list at Attica is more mature.

        • None of us are drinking, and I feel the city view experience is a good contingency in case the food is bad

        • Agree. The sparkling water is to die for!

Just enjoy it. I’ve done a lot of these restaurants around Melbourne and they’re all great. Yes some are overrated but that doesn’t mean they’re not still good.

  • My recommendation, for what it is worth, is don't take your friends to Vue de Monde (or elsewhere). Buy them a voucher and let them enjoy it together.

    • Nah m8

      • Giving a gift that is conditional on you being there? Really?

Yah, didnt ask you for advice on if I should be there or not lmao.

    1. sunset as Bonbi listed above
    2. ermmm.. no
    3. go the 7 course option, u can always opt for 10 later, and request a window view
  • The food at VDM isn't anything special to rave about (my opinion only). I've been back a few times, but I go for the experience since it's a nice place and I take people there for special occasions if it's something I know they've been wanting to try.

If you want to keep costs down, don't touch any alcohol. You can easily double, triple or quadruple your bill if you do decide to drink. But then if you're going to go to these types of places, there's no point being tight about it. Just go and enjoy it.

    • Haha none of us drink, and yeah good point!

  • Did you know that "Vue de monde" means view of the world? You can use that line on your friends to impress them with your worldly knowledge.

  • as someone who has spent a lot of time there (and no I wasnt a customer)
it is a great experience, value is subjective

its great for proposals/dates/impressing someone/special occasions for the atmosphere, service is impeccable, some people say its a bit snobby,
as for food, its degustation+molecular gastronomy influences,

    best time is sunset/evening
Lunch I wouldnt bother unless someone else is paying for it
matching wines will basically double your bill
you can go to lui bar before dinner for cocktails and views

obviously if the courses are seafood centered and you hate seafood, you probably wont enjoy it,

personally, I'd go once in a lifetime for the experience, online reviews are as good as you can get

if you also want something quirky, you can try brae, everyone raves on about it and got voted one of the top restaurants in Aus and VIC, and top 50-100 in the world, but personally I borderline hated it,
for $80-$100 per head id be very happy, but not at $240-$300 per head without drinks

    • Amazing, pretty much confirmed everything I was suspecting incl Brae! Thanks ❤️

  • Be prepared to dine for around 3 hours if you're doing the dinner service. The Mrs and I ran out of things to talk about after 2 hours.
The food is alright compared to places like Attica. But VDM is more about the experience, I would book around 730pm so you catch the sunset.
Make sure you use the bathroom its amazing..

    • Haha I have used the loo before at a xmas party! Hoping they still have the fountain taps.

Did you find the food filled you up?
