I'm not sure if this has been posted before but I can't find it online.

Apparently, if you renew your existing contract (12 or 24 months) with Vodafone for another 24 months, you get an extra gig of data for free each month! I found this out when I signed up for the HTC Sensation on the $29 a month cap. It seems to be an automatic thing but it's best to ask the sales representative IN STORE.

Vodafone's not great in most areas but where I am and on the new 850mHz network, everything is pretty fast.

I don't know about you but I can't seem to even use up 500mb of my quota. The network is still too painfully slow.

    • I stream a lot of music from stuff like Tune In, Google Music and tether a fair bit so it's just right for me! I haven't found speed to be too bad (maybe because I've never tried Telstra!) but the coverage can be shocking sometimes. And added to that the fact that Vodafone doesn't have roaming agreements with our companies…

I agree. I was with vodafone for 1.5 years on my iPhone and the only data I used was for retrieving my email (which uses very little data). It'd be too slow for almost everything else. Extra data is useless if you can't use it! Don't let this gimmick sucker you into renewing with vodafail

I have to manually force my phone to 2G to get a signal and prevent the battery from depleting in a day. On 3G I get 0 bars at home.

The service and support is also painful…
3 days now, unable to receive calls….! and everytime they try to fix it, they turn of my 3G…. have to call and wait 20 minutes to get data connection back…. if your value your time, go with another provider (not worth the extra 1GB IMO)

You can't over exaggerate how bad Vodafone is. Once, the internet just randomly died for hours on end. Terrible call reception, and if your lucky you can use whirlpool forums (works on dial-up). SEVERAL times sms failed. It can sometimes take hours for a sms to be recieved. On telstra, it's so quick I can have IM style chats.

If I was offered unlimited service for free I would reject it.

  • Wow, I guess that I've won the Vodafone lottery or something! Apart from the roaming issues, my Vodafone experience has been about average to good. TBH though, if everyone I knew wasn't on Vodafone or 3 (I call them for hours at a time for free), I'd probably switch to Telstra pre paid or something.

  • I'll give it a +. In Melbourne CBD, I found Vodafone data surprisingly good… until dodgy Sure Telecom ended their deal after just a couple of months…

I'm over arguing with their customer service…can't wait to bail out of vodafone…and oh sms randomly gets undelivered too

best thing i ever did was get the hell outta vodafail

  • is this apply to iphone 4s?

edit: i just renew my contract over the phone but this didn't mention, do you have a direct link for it or this promotion only apply in store?

    • I think that it's in store only. The person in store just showed me on their computer terminal that there's an offer for renewing customers. I've tried to get it through the online upgrades but haven't found anything.

  • I managed to get it too, 12 month renewal over the phone with the call centre. I was wondering why there was extra data.

  • 1GB of data with Vodafone is the same as no data.

  • Hey, HEYHEYALIAN,
How are you finding the Sensation on VF?
Can you tell if it's on the 2100 or the new 850 MHz 3G networks?
I don't know what the VF 850 network is called.

    How's the phone's battery life?

I was offered the phone for $400 postpaid! For VF/Three postpaid customers. Nice that you can unlock and then use on Telstra if VFAILS. :)

    • The phone is amazing and the price makes it all the sweeter. The screen is fantastic (even though it's not the AMOLED one in the Galaxy) and it feels really solid. I really can't tell you much about the battery life as I've only had it for 2 days but I've been using it VERY heavily each day and it's lasted for the whole day. I wouldn't say that it's as good as the iPhone battery but it's certainly not the worst.

It is on the 850MHz network and I have noticed the difference compared to my old phone. I get full bars all the time indoors now. I've already unlocked the phone so I don't have to worry about it later when I go overseas or sell it.
