Petsafe Collarless Ultrasonic Trainer $19 (Was $75.99) @ Petbarn

100

Was looking around my local Petbarn and a lot of the bark control stuff were on sale. Some others were 40-60%, but this was 80% off. Couldn’t find it on their website so you may need to right around. It has both a positive and negative tone.

Didn’t like the idea of bark collars but a remote where I needed to use actively is more fairer on my dog. It would be more of an active approach than passive like those collars - which potentially may harm my dog.

Please ONLY purchase this for your dog that is barking excessively and use it with high care. Do NOT use it too often and also not on humans as it may cause permanent hearing loss.

This should be a last resort.

Like after you’ve had professional help resort.

Please don’t use this if all you do when your dog barks is yell at it and punish it. If it can cause hearing damage to humans it certainly can cause it to your dog.

Yes I have to completely agree with you. There are wonderful dog behaviour trainers who are there for such issues. They should be the first port of call.

So i assume you have already judged me without knowing any of the facts. By posting it does not mean I condone it, nor do you understand each individual’s circumstance. Someone out there may ALREADY been looking at this solution and have already decided because they NEEDED it.

Simply saying point blank that someone who purchases one is a “cruel idiot” would not be fair on those who have done their research and have tried all other options.

If you failed to read the post, I have explicitly stated to NOT purchase this without understanding the purposes and harm of it.

You can’t begrudge someone for posting a bargain to ozbargain mate neg or comment away though.

I post stuff that is on offer for those who need them. YOU also have the option to not look at this post and not comment on it.

By commenting on something says a lot about you too. It means you have a view on everything and if it doesn’t align with YOUR view then it’s wrong regardless of what other people see. The world does not revolve around YOU.

@WaterMark: I also have the option to look at and comment on whatever I want.

            • +3

@nuts: You can comment all you want but you cannot call people derogatory names. It is against the Terms of Use of OzBargain. If you don’t like that then you shouldn’t be here at all.

              • @WaterMark: If I don't like potentially cruel and painful tools used to abuse animals I shouldn't be here? Oh my bad, didn't realise this was that kind of place. Whilst your post may bring you peace inside yourself because you put all the 'don't use it if you don't have to' disclaimers, they don't really do or mean anything in real life though do they. No-one has to pass a test to use this product. But hey, do whatever you want. Mate.

        • Maybe stop posting when you can get cheap alcohol so alcoholics won’t have to see them? Or stop posting deals altogether so shopaholics won’t see them???

          • +1

@flashi007: Lol yeah cause alcoholics are forced to have the bottle around their neck and made to take a shot everytime they do something that is part of their nature. Excellent retort.

            • @nuts: your facts is not correct. This is NOT a COLLAR. If you read it properly in my post, this is a REMOTE.

This device you physically need to be active in the process which also maintains the due care that is needed. A collar on the other hand is different as you put it on and forget about it. Learn the difference.

              • @WaterMark: Yes, you make a good point, I made a mistake in a reply not addressed to you. The fact still remains that the bark control is out of the hands of the dog and its probably even worse that anyone can use it. Look at the clowns that have replied on this post and what they want to do with it.

What's the thoughts on using this (occasionally, only at night) on a neighbours dog who they won't train (nor give attention to at night - which is why he's barking)…… ?

    • +1

@WaterMark, what do you think about this?

    • That is not the be done.

      1) You should discuss with your neighbour about the barking issues
      2) It is not your dog nor your property
      3) neighbour noise complaints are done through council
      4) if you cause injuries then the neighbour is liable for vet bills as you have damaged their property

      • +4

        1) neighbour does not care about his dog barking.
2)His dog keeps my kids awake at night, they are not his property.
        3) my council passes this onto the police, who do not care.

        • it's not automatic, you have to point it at the dog and press the buttons.

          Not Recommended For Large/Stubborn Dogs

i swear my neighbors dogs on either side and across the street work shifts to make sure one of them is always barking so the idea of some device to make them shut up is appealing, but i'm dubious if this would work.
