The extra 10% off at Chemist Warehouse makes the GO Healthy Manuka Honey a great deal given they were already on 1/2 price so can stack the 10% off on top!

$66.14 is the best price I've seen on the GO Healthy Manuka Honey UMF 16+ 500g and if you spend over $150 like I did you can apply 5OFF150 for another $5 off on top. :P

The link is for the UMF 16+ but I think their whole range is currently on 1/2 price so you can look at their other UMF grades to suit. Don't forget 1% cashback from Shopback.

Love it when I can stack discounts on top of discounts on top of more discounts!

In all seriousness is it worth buying a product like this? Are people who consume this kind of honey healthier than people who don’t? Will it make you live longer or probably not?

    • +1

The answer to the above is, mostly, no. Think of it like eating an orange instead of an apple. Both are healthy for you, but the orange has Vitamin C, so helps your immune system a little as well. But is it worth the price difference i.e. paying multiples in this specific case: No. Are you healthier? Well, slightly but it's not a huge, incredible difference. And it's not going to change your life dramatically of its own.

      • I've found it helps when you feel a sore throat coming on. Kinda like gargling some Betadine. Similar price, and this tastes better, and can be put in tea or on toast. Also good for lubricating the throat, and seems to work better than other honey due to its more creamy nature. So good for those that Sing/Talk a lot in their jobs. Using it sparingly, it lasts for ages.

Like the dear lobsters, these should come down to $2 a bottle - please support Aussie honey farmers. Much better and healthier then Manuka any day..

This stuff has gotten so expensive since NZ found there was a buck in it - and it became so popular overseas. This discounted price is 3 times what the RRP used to be.

This stuff is a marketing scam. Ordinary blue gum honey or any other type is just as medically beneficial and one-tenth the price.

    • What if I blended it with goji berries?

You can get 1KG of kangaroo island honey for like $30 posted from a Kangaroo island farm.
You can use the extra 36 dollars on some yukult, if you want to pretend random bacteria will make you healthier.

    • Hi nephilim, was there a specific farm / website you get your honey from?

Well, everyone believes in something. Some people believe in homeopathic, some in manuka honey. At least the latter one has some scientific backing and its healing effect on wounds is confirmed. And given the product, the price is a good bargain, if you are into it.

    • It's not so much a healing power, it just has an antibacterial property. So like dettol but tastes good. I find it quite good for singing, has helped far better than normal honey for those long gigs where my throat is starting to die, or if I've woken up with a sore throat. It's not a miracle magic thing, but it definitely helps. I've got a 200g tub that has lasted me for like 2 years now, as I only get a small teaspoon and suck on that when needed.
