wa da!? $500 for a Aldi brand craptablet??! No thanks, I would much rather get a transformer for less than that price…

    • +1

transformer prime! <drools> quad core drools in fact! - 499 for the 32GB version… i know which one i want when its released!

      • Just curious, will it have wifi and 3G for $499?

        • -1

wifi most likley, cant imagine releasing a tab without one… i think they did that once many moons ago, they are called "bricks" IE pretty useless without it
transformer two has 3gin a different model, so for 499 not sure if it will have the 3geeebeees and who knows if they will release them at the same time.

  • +3

not good when seeing the price

  • +2

Wait a couple of weeks after keen xmas shoppers have bought a few, the price will be discounted to $300 mark.

    • prolly even less than that… (fingers crossed) :)

    • +1

After xmas you'll see it in the clearance bin with Tuna cans.

  • My Girlfriends brother bought a Medion laptop from Aldi, took him 4hours to find the drivers. Can imagine the pain on this tablet!

  • Mega LOL.

    A no-name for that much

Good specs - Has 3G, 802.11n, HDMI and dual core. Price a little underwhelming.

as stated above, Transformer prime will be waaaaaaaaaaaay better than this. Most other tablets on the market already are, and more reasonably priced as well

    • With the exception of the dock accessory on the Transformer (which isn't part of the core tablet), how are any of the currently available tablets significantly better than this one?

  • this is a deal , there is a secret button in the tablet that make it transform into a autobot and starts protecting you from the evil decepticon :D

    • I thought it could build an island than transfrom in to a freaking jet and fly you there?
      I thought it printed money?
i thought it granted you 3 wishes even if one of those wishes was for an iphone????

      • +1

Awesome reference! I don't think any one else got it though…

  • and once you get a hang of it it will turn into a really nice good looking tablet :D, how cool is that

  • Bad, bad deal for a no-name tablet.

  • 200 would be a bargain for this Medion tablet~~~
spend the same, you could get a big name brand if u shop around!

      but again….60 days to try!!
for someone who wouldn't mind going through all the trouble to return it and get refunded after playing for 59 days!! Go for it!!

Perfect for ppl wanting to try out a tablet.

      • That is what I am thinking - add a $12.60 Woolies SIM card (5GB 45 day expiry) & have cheap fun for 59 days! Very easy to return.

  • Dear Aldi, I don't know if you ever improved on your attempt to copy cheese Twisties, but I am about as likely to buy this tablet at $499 as I am to buy another packet of those.

    • 3g notwithstanding.

      • They have 3g twisties now?

        • No, but have you tried 3g telstras? Quite tasty, a bit expensive, but can sometimes leave a bit of a bad aftertaste.

Is this one better than the Dick Smith one that will come out in the future :)

  • Talking about no name Brand Dick Smith
Aldi has 7,000 stores worldwide, they sell more electronics stuff than anyone else, they are the number1 digital Camera seller in Europe, Just because Aldi is new to some of you does not make there products crap.

This is from kogan which imports your order from HK so we are comparing $699 apple with the above computer which is $200 less and you get a card slot and usb 2 year warranty 60 return

    iPad 2

    16GB - $489
    16GB 3G - $609
    32GB - $569
    ………….32GB 3G - $699
    64GB - $659
    64GB 3G - $789

    Galaxy Tab

    16GB - $499
    16GB 3G $649

By the way Brand names like Sony do not make there own lap computers, if I remember Asus or Other makes it for them.

OFF- Note Found a forum for Medion products

  • I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if this is a good unit, although some of my Aldi purchases - electronic and electrical (and food) - have been very seriously regretted.
Despite the feature set of this tab, with Tegra 3 Androids imminent - not to mention an iPad3 coming with a confirmed screen res of 2048×1536, the problem with this thing is still the pricepoint. I think Aldi will discover that.

specs seem decent but i dont know how they expect to get 500 for it, max should be around 350…

its a decent tablet with decent specs but aldi sells cheap gear, cheap would be around 300…350 would be a good price… 400 would be expensive, which makes 499 excessive…
