Note8 Bought on March 2018 on Vodaphone Plan. USB Port Now Faulty - Covered by ACCC?

I bought mobile as part of plan from Vodafone on March 2018, Now my phone USB port got faulty not able to charge them.
Wondering it is covered by warranty, I don't have any warranty information supplied by Vodafone.
So I am relying on ACCC.

What is the warranty period for mobile phones from ACCC?

Any help would be appreciated

Thank you

  • 2 yr Warranty Only.

  • What is the term of your plan? Was it a 12 or 24 month plan? If you are still paying for it then Vodafone will fix it ( provided the USB port is not damaged due to misuse)

    • You see this is the thing people do not realise about teleco's now

The "plans" are zero months (m2m)
The handset repayments is effectively finance
they get out of the "must be under warranty while under a plan" clause by making this change.
Voda i know for a fact were explicit about this being the case. The phone competent is "interest free finance"

unless the OP is locked into an old style plan where the phone and plan are combined they are SOL

  • Use wireless charging.

  • When samsung was taken to court over their dodgy washing machines by the ACCC the court determined acceptable warranty lengths for certain devcies

Mobile phones were 2 years… this is when Apple, Samsung etc changed their standard warranty to 2 years.

If you phone is over 2 years.. you are going to have to pay for a repair

  • Samsung is generally pretty good with warranties, gotten a phone fixed nearly 3 years from purchase. As long as you a Proof of Purchase, you are good to go to samsung

  • +1

Sure the port is actually faulty? Not just a bunch of gunk in it stopping it from charging?

  • the acl is the law which applies.
you should complain to the tio which might handle it, or consumer affairs.
