    Universal Docking Station $159.99

Scotty can use this to park the USS Enterprise.

  • My Dell G7 has USB-C and hdmi ports so I should be able to connect 2 external monitors?
This would be useful for laptops that only have USB-C port?

    • yes,if you want Triple Display, and you need download the DisplayLink drive in the 2 external monitors. And it is suitable for the laptops that have USB-C port.

    • Uuhhhh… I would avoid this if you are planning to use it with the G7 and utilise the gaming capabilities. This dock uses DisplayLink, which if it's anything like the Dell D6000 I have, has terrible video performance. It utilises the onboard graphics in the CPU , rather than the native GPU.

Have a read of this: https://www.dell.com/community/Alienware/Docking-Station-D60…

      • I also have a G7 and have been in the market for a dock that supports external triple monitors and charges the laptop, does anyone know if any of the docks out there do this?

I’ve been looking at the D6000 however can’t seem to figure out if it’ll charge the laptop, and I do a lot of gaming on the G7 so it sounds like the D6000 isn’t suitable being CPU powered for external displays.

Currently looking at the Dell TB16 dock since the thunderbolt powered dock uses the GPU to power the external displays (from what I understand), expensive bit of kit though!

        • I have a D6000 dock running 3 monitors. It's fine for WFH for Office applications, but rubbish when playing video. Don't even think about using it for gaming. I have a G5 arriving soon. I'm planning to return the D6000 and get the Dell WD19TB. It's got Thunderbolt, runs off the GPU, and I'm hoping to run 4-5 monitors altogether (3 through the dock and 2 directly off the G5)

          • @mandelbrot: Thanks for the reply mate! I think i'll look into the WD19TB as well :)

        • Btw, I don't believe there is any dock that will power the G7 via usb-c. You need to use the separate power supply.

Is this a powered dock? I hope it is, what with all these ports…
