About the wine:

Vintage: The 2019 growing season started with mild weather and below average rainfall. Some late spring rain provided a bit of relief from the dry conditions. A heatwave in January was luckily too early in the ripening cycle to cause any damage to the fruit. This was followed by a very mild and dry finish to the vintage, allowing good hang time and flavour development to the smaller than average crop.

Nose: The nose displays beautifully vibrant aromas of plums, red cherries, chocolate and hints of spice.

Palate: The palate is smooth and fruit-driven with red berries, plums and spice, followed by fine tannins and a long finish.

Pairing: Try this wine with a traditional osso buco.

Cellaring: Drink now to 2029

        Thanks

Because the manufacturer is part of the product. I'm glad to know about it.

  • Richard this wine is too young but I may consider it to put it away for a bit.

    • Bottled this wine at the same time for around twenty years. Stylistically made for drink now, early release. Will cellar for around 8 years or so. Our icon wines we do keep back for a year or two…. Cheers! Richard :-)

Well, that's Christmas sorted with a handful of wine drinkers turning up. Just bought some of this wine, the 2017 Barossa Shiraz and the Chardonnay - which I just bought recently and very yummy. Be interesting to compare the 2 types of Shiraz. Thanks.

Thanks for that. Yes Barossa v McLaren Vale. 2017 vs 2019. It's all there. We'll be mixing up the Mixed Packs - red, white and mixed - later in December when we know what we have left in the shed after dispatching our latest shipment to Canada - a few new wines coming to mix it up a bit.
      Cheers RD :-)

Got my two cases today, and tried a bottle tonight. For the price this is was a steal. If it were still active I would have bought more cases!

  • Hi DJ. We’ll be back sometime in 2021 but we’re taking a break for OZBARGAIN for a while. All the best for the holiday season! Cheers RD :-)
