  • Are they any good can you answer calls from watch thanks

    • I have the Garrett stainless steel one for about a month and I like it. Battery life is about a day depending on how much you use it, I just put it on the charger when i don't wear it. Wear OS has it's own issues but the Fossil Gen 5s have recently been updated to the latest release. Yes, you can answer calls on it and seems to work okay but i have only done it a couple of times as my phone was out of reach.

    • +1

Sorry I don't have any experience with Hybrid watches, my first smart watch is the Fossil Gen 5 I recently purchased. From your link the watch looks quite nice but it also looks to be quite big at 50mm.

My guess is the battery life would be much better than Wear OS watches. The things you can do with it will be more limited, such as will only be able to see messages and notifications but not reply to them directly on the watch, but that might be what you are after.

      • Thank you for your reply! You're absolutely right that I am going for more of a hybrid functions here, with an always-on-display type of smart watch (like a traditional watch) but also alerts me to any phone notifications. Would definitely have been a bonus but I can live without the direct use functions, so that's really secondary.

Also wary about battery capabilities and if the system is laggy (I'm not smartwatch experts but I have seen some comments here about some Fossil watches that are buggy/laggy?) so trying to avoid that.

        • I read a couple of reviews on the Fossil Hybrid, it seems the main complaint is inaccurate HR and sleep tracking, although I do wonder how accurate these really are for any watch.

It is a shame we cannot try these for a while to see if it suits you before committing to purchasing.

For the Gen 5, I think it has a nice build (although charging ring might be an issue) and works quite well in general. It does have some bugs and inconsistencies, but i haven't found it to be laggy although I have nothing to compare it to. At 499 RRP, as much as I like it I would struggle to recommend it, but at 225 I think it is worth it.

  • Bought one on black Friday for $399. So now I need to buy another one & return the first one. Xmas gift, unopened. Uugghhh, what a pain.
