    Possibly the worst deal ever.

So it's delivered and installed but not connected to electricity? You need to go and hire an electrician separately?

Wow great business model right there.

    • +2

They don't have a sparky licence.
Should only be a couple of hundred.

      Good price!

      • +7

It's not the cost, it's the difficulty of arranging the separate trade. Better off getting it installed in one hit by a plumber/sparky duo, then at least it can all be tested and cleared working before they go.

        • +2

          Plumber? PLUMBER?
          Refrigeration Mechanic , my friend.

          • +1

@furiousgeorge: Sorry, that's what I meant. They're plumbing pipes but not ones that water and shit go through!

        • Difficulty ?
Last time I needed a sparky I jumped on hipages, my three quotes arrived almost immediately, and the guy was there at 5pm the same day.
Also, you'd get the electric circuit in place before you start the AC install for obvious reasons.

          • @Nom: If you have to get the circuit installed before the unit, that only complicates matters even more.

Id be genuinely interested to see if anyone went for this deal and actually had a smooth experience.

    • +5

From what I understand, it’ll be connected with the existing line. A new supply line if required is not included in this price.

      • +1

        Hi Bargainist

        Thank your for your comment.
It will be fully installed. You will need to organise a electrician to run a new power line. If there is existing power ie: a isolator we will connect to it as all our installers have re connect/disconnect licenses.

    • +2

Really? I think this is good price, I think people should understand what a qualified electrician costs as well as which models need a dedicated circuit - many low end AC don't need this and likely no additional cost.

    • +2

Calm down. It’s fine for many of those who want to replace an existing unit.

      • +1

        Hi Randomdude

Correct if there is a existing unit with a power supply we will connect it. As all our installers have re connect and disconnect licenses.

If their isn’t a power supply line you will need to organise a electrician to install a power supply.

        • +1

He means if there is an isolator outside for your old aircon , they can wire into that.

          • @furiousgeorge: Correct if there is a isolator outside we will connect to it.

            • +1

@ARO1: Do this deal in WA and I’d be all over it.

              • @furiousgeorge: Hi furiousgeorge

Thank you for your support. We will be rolling this deal across Australia in the near future.

At this time it’s only available in Melbourne Metro. But please send us a email at [email protected] & we will keep you updated.

  • Is the WIFI module also included in the price?
Is installation on 1st floor included or only ground floor?
After installing how will it be tested if electrician is required for electric connection?

    • WiFi is included in this model no module required. It can be installed on all floors as long as it’s a standard back to back installation.

  • +3

    That’s actually spot on OP

  • +1

for reference - My local aircon company quoted $1450 for a 2.5kw (which can do actually 3.5kw cooling) Mitsubishi AP series, installed including electricity connection where there is a paved/concrete placement outside. I think they have wifi too, but I don't really care about that, a remote works fine for me.

  • +1

I agree - it's okay, but not a great deal. If you're looking at the 2.5 kW unit, which is $999 here, plus at least $200 for a sparky as well, you're talking around $1200.

Alternatively, you could get this MHI unit https://airconshop.com.au/product/mitsubishi-heavy-industrie… - also 2.5 kW, there's $100 CB, so you're paying $681, plus installation. Local installer should be able to do $600 or so.

$81 more for MHI vs. Midea, plus the installation to be done all in the one go. I'd rather go with the MHI, IMO.

    • Hi p1 ama

Thank you for you feedback. Do you mean the MHI deal will cost $1481 including a electrician?

      • $781, with $100 CB is $681. You can find plenty of local installers who will do around the $600 mark. So $1281 all up as K calculated.

    • Agreed.
I got 2 of these installed a couple weeks ago for $2500 all up including brand new connections (never had aircon before).

They organised the electrician who ran new power lines and switch to the switchboard.
      Got electrical cert too.

      • Hi Edrift

Thank you for your feedback even though this deal isn’t for you. We had a overwhelming support from the ozbargain community who have already placed their orders for this deal.

  • Has anyone heard of this brand before?
Had a bad experience years ago installing a not so well known brand and the company folding inside warranty,
    And the unit failed

    • Since its establishment in 1985, Midea has made a name for itself in the air conditioning market. It is reputed for its wide range of air conditioning appliances with a versatile range of products, including window, split, portable, and dehumidifier.

Each Midea product is one of its kind because of its design, technological features, and benefits. Midea has surpassed every competition to become one of the most successful companies.

Midea’s joint venture with Carrier has resulted in it being the largest supplier of commercial ACs. They have gained an excellent reputation for producing high-quality air conditioning appliances. It has also been a supporter of the Brazil World Cup. So when people buy Midea appliances, they are sure of its quality. This is something its competitors are lagging behind in.

    • MHI or Daikin y nada más!

  • So if we have an existing system that's faulty, will your install cover everything to get it running again?

    • Hi HelloHello123

Yes it will include supply and installation.

  • If we have an existing unit will you quote on disposal costs? Also if install is not back to back how will we get an additional quote?

    • +1

Surely that'd be free, wouldn't it?
A fair bit of copper and aluminium in those!

    • +1

      Hi Dasher86

Yes removal will be free of charge. We will quote you on any additional installation cost before we install the unit.

  • +4

This is not a deal. This https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/569669 is a deal

    • -1

why? its more costly with installation. (sure its mitsubishi but costs more)

  • What's the wait time for installs in Melbourne at the moment ?

  • can anyone explain to a nuff nuff like me, why an existing installed system wouldnt have a isolator switch in the first place?

we are looking at replacing an existing one with a smaller capacity system but apparently we need an electrician out again because it doesnt have a switch

    • The problem arises mostly when it's a brand new install and no system exists.

I think in the olden days they didn't install isolator switches and relied on turning the entire mains power off

      • alrighty, got it
so just new regulations which means I have to install extra bits

sux but what can you do

  • how are guys (vic) getting quotes for $400 install

ive got 2 quotes (over the phone) and theyre both $900 as apparenrtly we need an electrician even though there is an existing system

  • Thank you to everyone due to high popular demand we have closed this deal. If you wish to get in touch with any other Enquiries please email us at [email protected]
