We were supposed to get an 3080 for ~$1100 and I thought that was expensive

  • +5

Not at this price, $900 max

  • In the mean time, Harris Technology is selling this same item for $1199.99 on Amazon. Why?

    • +1

To encourage you to go to their website.

    • +1

My understanding is Amazon takes part of the sell price as commissions. Just like eBay.

      • Does it defeat the purpose of selling on Amazon at inflated prices when you already have an online store….

Is it to catch the unsuspecting few that buy on Amazon?

        • Amazon has a huge existing audience that will shop there rather than sign up for random accounts on other websites to save $20.

          • +1

@zuccs: Part of selling on Amazon does not allow stores to sell for a higher price than their own website. If someone reported them, they would get made to correct prices or de-listed.

            • +1

              @BargainDoubter: Just like ebay.

It should be illegal to have a clause like that. Quite possibly is.

  • +1

The vision cards are gorgeous but too much above msrp to justify.

    • Why do you +. This is a bargain site.

  • got this at launch, gorgeous card

  • +18

Here we go again, at ozbargain items that are price gouged and above RRP being posted as a deal! I am begging this on principle.

    • +6

I refuse to participate in the bullshit that is pandemic pricing. I'll stick with my 5700XT and get a 3070 when the prices are actually not a smack in the face to consumers.

If you know manufacturing/logistic capacity is low and consumer demand is up, they should have left a longer runway of first wave manufacturing to ensure stock levels and force each 3rd party to have at least 1 instock RRP SKU or revoke licenses.

      • +1

I feel like this is just piling on to the crypto-mining pricing, which never really went back down even after people stopped mass-buying the cards.

        • Pricing is ultimately dictated by demand. If the market can absorb higher pricing, and manufacturers can still clear stock, then they will continue to sell at these higher than historical prices.

The only way we can gradually lower gfx card prices to more sustainable levels is to simply not buy new gfx cards. The lack of demand will drop pricing. But the broader market appears to have accepted that this is the new norm, no one questions that mid-range cards now cost $1000 and high end cards are well over $2000.

    • +3

      Same here, actually ridiculous pricing.

  • +1

OzBargain is about bargains, expensive really, just because they have stock it is not a bargain. If everyone starts buying at this price then they will become even greedier and raise the price silly. If they were the only one that has stock and the price is $10k, do you think it is a bargain? I'm happy to wait for another six months. My RTX 2080S still doing fine.

    • -1

True. This isn't OzInstock. It's OzBargain for goodness sake.

    • +3

You've got a 2080S? Why even bother upgrading?

      • Because white

      • This is precisely the mistake many 2080 owners are making. I know a few who panic sold their 2080's thought the 3070 was going to be this miraculous upgrade (and the hype certainly alluded to that), but unless you're 4k gaming, it's the same fps essentially for anything less than that. A majority of gamers don't game in 4k yet anyway.

        • using 5120 * 1440 here. Like to go to 3080 but can't justify paying $1300 odd. I figure 3070 with 2080Ti performance or better will do.

        • double post

  • +3

Here we go again, more 3070 'deals' over 1k. What a time to be alive

  • Nice looking card, price not so much lol

  • +5

there is no shortage of 3070 or 3090, just 3080.

and… simply being in stock is NOT a deal. what a low bar.

  • +1

If these are the prices going forward, I better start saving now for the RTX 4000 series

  • This card looks great but can't justify the price tbh

  • +1

Where is the saving? I don't see a deal here.

  • +2

Doesn't cost anything to wait, peoples….

  • Harris Technology, I feel sorry for you!

  • +2

RRP recommended retail price, not a bargain.
BPP bullshit pandemic pricing, not worth posting.

  • +3

this is oz bargain not OZ rip off

  • -8

The point of this post was,

IF you were looking to buy now, and wanted to save just a little.

    This is it.

IF you are willing to wait. The prices will come down eventually.

We are all aware of the MSRP ripper mark up from this series launch.

    Discretion advised.

    • -4

Agree…… everyone asking "Where is the savings???"

The savings is TIME… Get one now rather than in 3 months time.

If you are willing to wait, then that's fine, if you want one now, this is an option.

    • -2

      Bla Bla Bla!

    • -1

Sorry for all the "bargain" puritans on here - no shit you're not going to find a new gen GPU for a discount for a few months yet, so why are they bothering checking and negging these posts?

This kind of posts are still valuable - knowing the cheapest of the retailers offering it is still useful for those who can't wait or want to get it as a gift for an SO this Christmas.

We're both going to get downvoted to hell, but (profanity) it - hopefully you see this and know some people still appreciate you posting.

  • +3

You started the post with “Not the cheapest”… please chuck it in the forum

  • This is probably the best price you can get it right now.

This technically is a deal considering what the card go for these days.

For me though, I'm a patient man.

  • +1

    Ozscalping.com.au

  • Just wait for Boxing Day which is only 2 weeks away, with the eBay gift cards discount and the eBay sales promotion, you should be able to get one on eBay for around or under $900. got my gigabyte gaming OC 3070 on Black Friday for $900. You can stock up the eBay gift card on Saturday and pay with Zip to get 10% off

  • Wouldn't buy any of the GigaBYE's models except this or the AORUS/MASTER. That being said, the pricing of the 3070 should be at what 3060 Ti's pricing is at the moment… Around $700 to $800!

  • +1

    Don't encourage price gouging.

  • +1

    Say no to price gouging!!!

  • OzRRP posts, I do not agree but I stood down.

Content updates on paid subscriptions, I do not agree but I stood down.

Price gouging, I do not agree and I will NOT stand down!

    • This is sickening. Oh, wow.

  • This is not OzStock, this is OzBargain. This is not a bargain, this is a price gouge. Sellers profiting by selling cards above RRP due to higher than normal demand should not be encouraged.

  • +1

I am not proud to admit that I recently bought this card from Mwave for $1069. This being a little cheaper is better by comparison, but the larger problem as already highlighted by other commenters is the scarce availability results in the price of these cards being way above what they were supposed to be. Because of the pandemic and Samsung silicon availability issues, retailers are making a killing off of the pricing of these cards. It actually makes me feel a little remorseful knowing I bought one of these cards and paid more than I should have. It's this sinking feeling in your stomach, I should have waited to be honest, but I want to play Cyberpunk 2077 and I was not going to settle for a 3060 or any other card.

I was going to wait, but honestly, I just shamelessly gave in and bought one. I know many others have done the same and if you can wait before getting a 3070 or any of these other NVIDIA cards, I do recommend you wait. Right now, these cards are so damn expensive.

This isn't a deal, but it is one of the cheaper prices that you can get for this card comparatively amongst Australian retailers right now. The situation is no different in the US and other countries, consumers are being gouged big time and it's not going to change at least until Q2 2021 when Samsung finally get their issues sorted. The release of the Playstation 5 and new Xbox amongst everything else demanding Samsung silicon has created some big problems with these new GPU's and even the production of gaming consoles as well.

The situation over at AMD is even direr than NVIDIA. Allegedly they released some new graphics cards as well, just nobody has seen them outside of a few YouTuber's and tech sites who have got their hands on one.

  • Ozbargain rule for first posters, any Nvidia graphics cards post is guaranteed to fail. Don’t do it!

  • Not a deal, above RRP.

  • joke of a price, not even close to a deal

  • is the 3080ti with 20GB vram confirmed for release?

then there is no point buying a 3080 lol just buy a 3060ti or 3070 for now if you are running 10xxx or lower.
