Recommendations for A Monitor Arm for an Ultrawide

Hi, I'm after a specific monitor to suit my set up.
I have a built-in desk and a hole drilled through the back centre of the desk for cables etc, but large enough to fit a mounted monitor arm. Many of the monitor arms I've found either stick out the back too far which won't fit, as there's a wall which my desk backs on to. Or, The monitor arm sits on the side of the monitor, which definitely won't work for my set up, as I can't mount the arm on the back of the desk, and only through the hole in the centre.
I'd like to find one which stands straight upright, or which sticks back a maximum of say 100mm. Any more and it won't fit. Ideally, the arm would also allow me to bring the screen forwards or backwards, only a slight amount, but some movement is preferred.
Happy to pay any amount if it means finding the right arm.
My monitor is a 34" LG ultrawide, for reference.
Thanks.

  • hey there,

I recently bought this monitor arm from this website which is a Victorian supplier. I came across this company when researching and someone on Whirlpool forums recommended them. Shipping was quick and easy.
The dual monitor arm that I got is pretty solid, steady and easy to assemble/configure according to my needs. Hopefully you can find what you need when you browse the site.

  • My ultrawide weighs ~15kg so it's too heavy for most of the arms that I see advertised, I ended up going through these guys - they aren't cheap but you'll definitely be able to get something that looks good and does the job

It's actually almost identical to this package, except I only had standard duty bracket up top because my top monitor is only 7kg.

  • I use this for my 35" ultrawide: https://www.arctic.ac/en/Z1-Pro-Gen-3/AEMNT00049A

Takes a bit to tighten the arm, but once I got it tightened, it hasn't budged in a year. The USBs are a bit dodgy though, they work with peripherals but I haven't been able to get them to pick up USBs and such.

    • That looks very nice. Might stick a bit far forward though with that first straight bit that comes off the pole. Or can that be shortened?

  • I've got the Vivo Single Monitor Arm for my Xiaomi; which isn't very popular around here but I'm happy with the minimalistic appearance.

  • I'd recommend the Ergotron HX, which can support heavy monitors, articulates well, and can be fully/partially locked to prevent it backing into the wall behind your desk.

    • Thanks man I'll check it out

    • Which one exactly? They look like a solid option.

  • I'm using a "Dell Single Monitor Arm MSA20" with a U3818DW which is at the arms limits as it is good for up to 38" and 10kg.

Mines connected to the back of the desk, but the instructions say it can mount through a hole, and has a switch that locks it to 180 degree swivel
