Capture Card for Mac to Use with Xbox One

Hi folks, my son enjoys gaming and has been asking about a capture card. He has the following:

He wants to capture his gaming to create montages for uploading to Youtube and Instagram etc.

Any advice here? Seems like Mac and Capture Cards aren't as plentiful as your PC.

The simplest solution will be something that uses USB video class or UVC like those $15 HDMI to USB dongles from eBay. They should be picked up by many apps as if it is a webcam so application support is simpler and you don't need additional drivers. Then use apps like Quicktime or OBS to capture.

Another alternative is to use the inbuilt capture function of your Xbox One, and then edit on the Mac.

It's a bit to learn the process, but doesn't require any hardware investment, so you can try it right now before seeing if you need anything more advanced.

The Elgato Game Capture HD works fine with macOS.

    That one appears to list Macs with Intel processors as compatible
    
    No idea on the price side, but otherwise looks perfect for your needs
