Purchased an Expensive Rug and Noticed Stains on It?

I purchased a wool rug from an online rug shop and noticed these stains on the back.
Do you think it’s second hand and would you accept this for an expensive rug?

Edit - it’s definitely second hand…there’s like sand coming out of it!!!?!!

I would be sending those photos directly to the customer service and asking how you can go about getting a refund or replacement.

Can you tell what the stain is at all?

    • They feel like paste. No idea what they are.

That 3rd photo looks like it has been used for sure.

    • The store responded to my email and said the stains are from the factory in India as they are hand made hmmm

I would not accept that as a new item.

I'd send an email as soon as possible..

    Att: Rug Store

I have received the rug, purchased on xx/xx/xxxx and wish to advise that it has arrived with obvious stain damage in multiple areas. Pictures are attached.

I am looking at a direct replacement at this stage but will accept a refund if no undamaged stock is available.

…noticed these stains on the back.

Personally, I wouldn't worry about the back of it. If it's showing on the top side, then I definitely wouldn't accept it.

But it dosn't matter what we think - it's your money that you've spent and you should be comfortable with it. If you're not, then contact the sellter to try and get an exchange or refund.

Would you mind defining 'expensive'? What price range?
Looks like a run of the mill machine made..

    • On sale for $400 reduced from $1000 apparently

A rug shop having a "sale"? Unheard of!

        • +3

She should have bought it at the town hall, would’ve been 80-90% discount…

        • +1

They don't have sales, they just have "closing down sales" every week.

          • @AdosHouse: Maybe margins are real thin, and they technically are closing down unless people buy something this weekend.

            Or maybe not.

  • If you have already had it a few weeks you will face an up hill battle as they will say "it was fine when we shipped it".

It arrived yesterday and I emailed a few hours later when I opened it up. They actually even sent the wrong colour but I wasn’t going to complain until I saw stains.

Easy peasy then if wrong colour but mention that it was also stained in case they reject the return as "you have soiled the rug"

        • They did have a disclaimer that colours might be different due to my monitors light settings hmmm

  • At least it isn't pee'd on

    Stains look human

    • Call NCIS

  • Lol that’s bad. Complain for sure.
Oh my, Lost it when you said there’s sand coming out of it.

  • Not even looking at your images…. but suggest you take the rug back immediately.

Why are you discussing this with us? Take it back and seek a full refund.

    • I can’t take it back the rug is massive and the shop is in NSW

      • Nobody cares about practical realities. Be a can do person. /s
