Heard this on the radio, Harvey on WA having some big sale tomorrow where everything will be reduced, spend over $500 and get 10% of the value back in HN gift cards.
Popped into the Carousel store on the way home and notice they were either moving or taking away a few of the apple products.
So tonight hardlynormal would be buzy marking up the prices 20% so yhat they can give 10% discount tomorrow and still get 10% profit !
Take photos of the prices beforehand and prove it. Then send the evidence to consumer affairs. It's illegal to mark up prices before having a sale under current regulations/laws.
In Victoria as well. I actually got some great prices last year when this promotion was on. (managed to forgo the gift cards to get really decent discount on TV and Xbox).
So in order words Harvey Norman is offering 10% discount if you spend $500.
Hardly a "bargain".
Not 10% discount, it's actually UPTO 9.09% discount.
A 10% discount is you buy $500 worth stuff with $450 (50 off 500)
and this one is you spend $500 and get the maximum value of $550,
let's assume things in HardlyNormal do worth the tag price, so
this is $50 off $550, i.e. 9.09% discount.
Considering the $50 isn't cash, and unless they have something you want
at exact $50 tag price, you are very likely have to spend more than $50
in your next transaction, and the extra dollars have nothing to do with
this promotion, thus you total saving will be less than 9.09% off the HN PRICE.
true good maths and being locked into spending that bonus $50 at HVN sucks
Wanted to purchase a air con last week……one was advertised as coming with a $120 gift voucher.
The problem was, gift voucher is ONLY given if paid at advertised price of $1999. Got it elsewhere for $1475…….
So be mindful you may need to pay full price to get this offer………

Anytime I have bought something from HN (or any other electrical retailer) I have been able to get beter than a 10% discount just by bargaining with them. I don't want to be locked into spending my next $50+ with them.
Harvey Norman may not be around for much longer, for you to spend your gift vouchers.
