LEGO 75192 Star Wars Ultimate Collector Series Millennium Falcon (Damaged Box) - $949 (down from $1299) @ Toys "R" Us

130

Found this on Toys R Us, it's not a bad deal, however I can understand that this would annoy some people with the box damage.
With respect to this, they have included the following in their description:

THIS PRODUCT HAS DAMAGED PACKAGING. PACKAGE DAMAGE VARIES FROM SMALL CREASE TO LARGE CRUSH/TEAR IN BOX, HOWEVER THE BRICKS APPEAR UNDAMAGED. HEAVILY DISCOUNTED, SUITS BUILDER - MAY NOT BE SUITABLE FOR GIFT OR COLLECTOR.

They're also showing an option for brand new undamaged one's at $1199, but for some reason when you click on it, it takes you to the damaged box listing.
You however can add it to your cart from the search, if you avoid going to the listing.
I have a link here for both to make it easier:

If only I could justify the spend….

    I don't buy the damaged box thing….
Is that to get around a no discount rule?

Last time when they had these box damaged deals on eBay they sold more than they had… and most of them ended up being cancelled.

  • I don't think there was any stock .
    Too high anyway .

    • That seems a pretty good deal for someone who doesn't care about the box.

Mind you I can't currently recall what the best 'good box' deal has been.

      • In recent times the price of these has been higher than the good old days of $830.

But I still don't want to spend $949 for a damaged box.

        • $1039 is the cheapest it seems to have gone this year
It has dipped below $900 before, however that was only in 2019

      • I sure they have been sub $1k plenty of times with "good" boxes… but to be fair stock is harder to get now I think…

        • yeah, it has gone under $900 in the past, but not at all this year. $1039 is the cheapest this year that I have been able to find

          • @DOSman: Yes. Sometimes I think lego (possibly just David Jones and myer) estimates their stock needs wrong when a new flagship set is released. Hence the cheap falcon and chiron. When they get a better idea of actual demand the huge discounts stop because they are controlling their inventory better. Also, covid killed stock levels off.

wow a thousand dollars for a kids toy. crazy

      kids? xd

      • Yeah haha, I mean I did have some Lego as a kid, but I've definitely gotten a lot more when I was older. Given the prices, I can understand not getting much when I was younger.
I definitely would call this more of a collector's item than anything else, young adult or teen otherwise (and a very lucky one at that if they were to get this)

    • You're not wrong, it is a kids toy, but adults seem to collect lego sets as well. Still, 1k-1.3k for what is essentially a plastic model seems a bit bonkers.

  • Nobody likes a damaged box ;)

    • Some are more resilient than others

  • Not gonna lie, if this was in stock I would have been tempted…
