Get 10% Cashback Every Saturday in December (Max $30 Back Per Transaction) Using Tap & Pay @ Zip

8761

There seems to be a lot of confusion based on the comments so let me try and clarify how this works:

  1. Sign up to Zip Pay. Not Zip Money. You can use the 'Related Offers' at the bottom of this description for new signup options. Note that you must provide your email address or phone number if you want a referral, there’s no referral link and you can’t be referred without that info!
  2. Download the Apple or Android app and sign in with your details. You will need a smartphone with NFC.
  3. Go to the "Cards" tab within the Zip app. Click on Add to Apple Wallet (or Google Wallet if using android).
  4. Go to any store that accepts tap & go on credit/debit cards. Do not ask if they accept Zip Payment as this is a separate payment method.
  5. Purchase anything (any gift cards, services, goods, literally anything) and checkout with Apple Pay or Google Pay by tapping your digital Zip card on Saturday. Do not spend more than $300 in one transaction if you want to maximise your benefit as you won't get 10% back above $300!
  6. You should see the rewards balance reflected under "Rewards" within the "Your Zip" tab of the app immediately.
  7. Once you have reached $30 in credit, click on the redeem button to apply the credit to your account.
  8. Pay off your Zip account by linking a credit card to earn points and defer payment (The screen says debit card but many have confirmed credit cards to work as well - Amex will not work). It takes 3 days for processing payments to finalise and you cannot make additional payments sooner than that.
Things to note:
  • Applying for a Zip account will trigger a credit check.
  • Redeemable once you've reached $30 in credit (I.e. Min spend $300)
  • Rewards balance will continue accruing even if you don't redeem $30.
  • There's no daily limit. The only limit is your credit limit.
  • Apple Pay and Google Pay don't have a $100 tap and pay limit like normal cards. The limit is unlimited since you biometrically authenticate yourself at the time of payment.
  • You cannot prepay your zip account via BPAY so that it goes into credit. I contacted Zip and they informed me that since they’re not a bank they’re not allowed to hold deposits. If you prepay your account you will be breaching their T&Cs and your account may get blocked. It will take a few days to unblock. Do so at your own risk, some have reported success while others have confirmed they got blocked.
  • You cannot make payments online.
  • Max $30 back per transaction.
  • Excludes Westfield gift cards purchased from Westfield
  • On days other than Saturday, you can still earn 3% or 5% cash back that will accrue towards your rewards balance.
  • Within a twenty-four (24) hour period, you (a) are limited to redeeming your Reward Goal eight (8) times, and (b) will not earn any further credit back if you spend $4,000 or more.
  • 10% back on Super Saturdays will override all other cashback offers with lower % back.
  • By end of 8 January 2021, any credit back that has not reached the Reward Goal will be cancelled.

      • Same here. Purchased Gift Cards Woolies at approx 11pm AEDT and tracked at 3%.

    • Mine didn't even track. Its not in rewards list til now. I wonder if its because I already am above the $30 limit when I bought the wish cards. Should have redeemed $30 first and not care about holding up the queue. :(

  • i Just made a purchase after 11pm in Coles buying Coles gift card and for some reason i didn't get 10% cashback in zip rewards but normal 3% instead.

Did they incorrectly end the Super Saturday cashback before the Saturday finishes?!

    • +1

Just sent an email to Help centre.. Hope they investigate and rectify this.

      • +1

Let us know once you get a responce.

      • Have you got a response from them? I am on a similar boat, made a purchase on Saturday 11:30pm and did NOT get the 10% only 3% cashback. I've contacted them but have not heard anything back from them

        • Didn't get any email reply but managed to ring through on (02) 82942345, and spoke to Joshua, who said will investigate and fix the issue.

    • +1

Also bought in Coles at 11 and only saw 5% cash back, will contact help

      • Update: contacted support and they credited back the difference immediately.

        • How did you contact support? Email?

            • @neilpatrickharris: How long before they sent a response?

              • @emboon: Sent email on 8th and got a reply on the 10th.
I had called on the 9th and they applied the credit while I was on the call.

                • @neilpatrickharris: Tried ringing them up and they are saying there's a limit of one transaction per store on the same day. Gave me an example saying if I shopped for coffee in the morning and went back to get another one in the afternoon to the same cafe. I won't be getting rewards for the 2nd transaction.

I didn't see this in the terms and conditions. Did you just do one transaction per store?

                  • @emboon: Interesting. Can anyone else confirm?

                    • @brisdaz: What is there to confirm? Haven't you read all the posts here?

There's no such a thing. Ignore them.

    • finally got the 10% cashback fixed as it's shown in the zip app rewards section today.

  • +1

Looks like the 10% cut off early from the above posts. I wonder if Zip have underestimated demand. Let’s see if future Saturdays go ahead as scheduled.

    • +1

Bad programming I reckon. It's poor form to have it end early before 11:59.

      • +1

Yep, good point, that’s a lot more likely.

  • when they started late this morning, i knew i have to avoid last mins purchase. therefore my last order was around 9 pm.

    • What time did they start?

  • Now afterpay needs to bring something similar .

    • I think it could be a matter of time before they partner up with Mastercard. But now we can use Amex with Afterpay and we can put our Afterpay balance on Amex and a higher earn rate. Afterpay would be the one that would pay the interchange fee rather than the shops themselves. That would change the game.

    • They already have their promotion with Qantas

  • For those who were able to avail the 10%

Does it show up as one transaction in your rewards screen? Or does it show up twice.. first for 3% then another for the remaining 7% to make it 10%

    • It showed up as one rewards transaction when I shopped at Woolies yesterday.

  • +1

new to zip. Are you able to pay your zippay with any credit card? Does this count as a cash advance? Will it come with points?

    • +1

      This has been answered above.

Yes you can use cc. Whether it counts as a cash advance may differ from card to card but as of now many have reported they count as normal transactions and therefore come with points.

      • Thanks =) guess my concern was whether or not my bank would but good news on that front ANZ doesnt seem to treat it as a cash advance!

        • How did you check? I'm with citibank n would like to know.

  • Looks like I'll be only shopping on Saturdays in December - any "remainder" gets spent on Coles Myer GCs, thanks OP.

    • +1

You can also shop on Tuesday til Thursday.

      • What do you mean?

        • Shop on other days for the 3% cashback.

          • @PissLUR: That’s Sunday-Friday

            • @itsme56: You'll need Monday to pay off the balance and stop on Thursday to get ready for Saturday.

              • @PissLUR: But then I don't get 10%!

Our household has two zippay accounts, so that's $2k of anything at 10% off each Saturday.

3 Saturday's left, so $6k in some form of GCs, fingers crossed there are good boxing day sales on TVs.

                • +2

@deeeno: Yes thats the limit for Saturdays. You can still shop on other days to get the 3% off.

I reckon to maximise the credit, buy gift cards on Saturdays and others on the weekdays.

  • Bought an AusPost Mastercard Gift card but can't use the bloody thing anywhere online.

    • What did you try it on?
I managed to use it to pay utilities via PostBillPay and groceries.

      • Can't add to PayPal, google or Microsoft. Probably have to use for groceries, but I already have Woolies gcs. I was hoping to just use it like a normal debit card.

        • Most things that want to do recurring payments won’t let you use prepaid cards, like App Store and Play Store.

          • @paperpaper: But you can use the prepaid cards to buy iTunes or play store cards in supermarkets?

            • @leiiv: Yes you can, I’m talking about adding a prepaid VISA/MasterCard as the billing method in App Store/Play Store

              • @paperpaper: I know, but you can buy the play store vouchers as a workaround.

    • Only to shop. Not paying subscription or paying off CC.

  • Anyone know how long the MasterCard gift card expires ?

    • expiry date is printed on the card.

    • 4-6 years

  • Is there a permanent deal on prepaid master, visa, or EFTPOS card that gives you an extra discount?

Can you over pay your zip account to effectively increase your limit?

    • Maybe you can with BPay but no one has tried it yet.

  • -1

I just checked my ZIP statement and no 10% credit applied(full amount charged) with what I bought from Coles yesterday (using ZIP card via Google Pay/NFC on the Paywave machine)!

anyone see 10% on their statement? false advertisement?

    • You'll need to redeem the zip credit for it to be applied to the account.

      • huh? what do you mean? redeem zip credit to get credit?

my previous Amazon "credit back" automatically,
and beside, no "redeem credit" button on the APP or website?

        • Try updating your app.

          • @PissLUR: updated to latest version, still no button for "redeem credit" for purchased items.

as said, the Amazon 10% credit back automatically, but not this Google Pay 10%
I can see the transactions paid with ZIP (I paid via Google Pay/Paywave at the counter) dated 5/Dec/2020
but missing the 10% credit back from ZIP.

            • @davidl2: well thats the how to on how to earn. have you hit the $30 reward goal?

        • How to earn

          1. Add your Tap & Zip card to your device

          2. Use Tap & Zip to pay wherever you see the contactless symbol

          3. Get a super 10% cashback* every Saturday in December

          4. Redeem your cashback when you hit your reward goal

  • Can you pay Zip balance with Amex? If so, will it count as cash advance ?

    • Can't pay it with American Express but hopefully they will get to it.

  • Only instant payment option I have is a debit CC .

  • With this promotion, doesn't it mean you don't need to spend $1000 to get the $30 credit?

Eg, if you spent $300 on Saturday, you would hit that $30 credit, right? Am I missing something?

    • +1

yes, if you spend $300 you'll get the $30 credit.

Most of us ozbargainers, are trying to max out the benefits hence spending $1000

  • Any preloaded debit cards to purchase using zippay?

  • Is there credit check with using this service?

  • Hi all,

What’s the best way to maximise this? I bought the MasterCard @$250+ $7 fee (the 2000 bonus points).
I wonder if there is another debit card with higher value (and obviously fees).
Without the bonus points you are still saving 9% by buying on a Saturday a $250 MasterCard which costs $7. And you can then use anyway you like as it works as a normal debit card.
So far I have bought the deal from coles and reloaded some opal but wondering of other ways to get the most of this amazing deal.
It’ll be nice to find a better way if there is one. I know you can buy just normal gift cards from grocery shops, but prefer a general one you can use all the time

    • Discount equates to approx 7.5% actually (if you buy a MasterCard @$257)

    • +1

The AusPost Gift Card Mastercard lets you preload up to $500 + $5.95 fee
      https://auspost.com.au/money-insurance/buy-gift-cards/auspos…
Not confirmed if you can split payment, otherwise do $294 + $5.95
Do not confuse with the reloadable one.

      • Thanks sounds good!

  • Will I be able to pay Rego at Australia Post using this in Victoria?

    • +1

Some people have tried paying bills at Auspost with this deal & said that it works for some bills and not others.

      • +1

Correct. The allowable payment methods are determined by the vendor, not AusPost.

  • Hi anyone know if you can pay your zip balance using AMEX credit card?

    • Not right now but hopefully they are working on it. Mastercard/Visa Credit cards are allowed at the moment.

So if you have one of those Mastercard/Visas with 1 QFF/VFF point per dollar… it is very lucrative.

      • Ah dang! Was gonna apply for that Amex credit card deal. Thanks cheers

  • -1

can i do more than 1 transaction of $300each in 1 day, (suppose the 12th dec. saturday)?? and still get $30 cash back each time ???

thinking to buy $1800 worth TCN to buy iphone 12 Pro from Jb hifi .

can someone please help me ??

    • the questions have been asked many times.

    • +1

Yes you can. Zip pay accounts have a limit of either $1000 or $1500 (if you're offered to extend the limit after being with them a while). You can't pay off your account with your credit card until pending transactions have processed however, so if you buy up to your limit on Saturday you will need to wait until Monday to pay off with credit card. However you can pre-pay-off your ZIP pay account via BPay and over-fund it before Saturday so that you have $1800 available.

      • Is there a limit to how much we can pre pay?

        • idk

  • I just signed up for a new account and only got a $350 limit. Is that normal for a new account or unusually low?

    • Depends on your credit score and repayment history.
Max you can start on is 1k - which 2 of my friends and myself received on signing up. We all have history of good credit.

      • I figured it was credit score. Odd given I've never had a late payment on bills, mortgage, credit cards etc. Oh well, won't be able to take much of an advantage of this deal then.

        • If you are brave enough, try to over pay your account using bpay

  • can we sign up more than1 account for same person by using different email address?

    • +1

No, this is a credit account and requires identity and credit checks.

  • Darn it, Amex not accepted as payment method

  • This is a real big brain moment here.

When making an additional payment, you can do this via Apple Pay… and the Zip card is an option.
There has been a previous comment stating that a payment to KFC via the app via Apple Pay triggered 10% off.
You see where I'm going here…

    • Sorry that I couldn't give you the Zip referral that you requested cooni….I was offline most of that day.

    • No you cannot

      • At what point does it fail? The payment, or the cashback?

        • There's no option to pay with apple pay. It's a direct debit

          • @neilpatrickharris: There absolutely is when making additional payments. I’ll post a screenshot when a pending transaction clears.
