Get 10% Cashback Every Saturday in December (Max $30 Back Per Transaction) Using Tap & Pay @ Zip

8761

There seems to be a lot of confusion based on the comments so let me try and clarify how this works:

  1. Sign up to Zip Pay. Not Zip Money. You can use the 'Related Offers' at the bottom of this description for new signup options. Note that you must provide your email address or phone number if you want a referral, there’s no referral link and you can’t be referred without that info!
  2. Download the Apple or Android app and sign in with your details. You will need a smartphone with NFC.
  3. Go to the "Cards" tab within the Zip app. Click on Add to Apple Wallet (or Google Wallet if using android).
  4. Go to any store that accepts tap & go on credit/debit cards. Do not ask if they accept Zip Payment as this is a separate payment method.
  5. Purchase anything (any gift cards, services, goods, literally anything) and checkout with Apple Pay or Google Pay by tapping your digital Zip card on Saturday. Do not spend more than $300 in one transaction if you want to maximise your benefit as you won't get 10% back above $300!
  6. You should see the rewards balance reflected under "Rewards" within the "Your Zip" tab of the app immediately.
  7. Once you have reached $30 in credit, click on the redeem button to apply the credit to your account.
  8. Pay off your Zip account by linking a credit card to earn points and defer payment (The screen says debit card but many have confirmed credit cards to work as well - Amex will not work). It takes 3 days for processing payments to finalise and you cannot make additional payments sooner than that.
Things to note:
  • Applying for a Zip account will trigger a credit check.
  • Redeemable once you've reached $30 in credit (I.e. Min spend $300)
  • Rewards balance will continue accruing even if you don't redeem $30.
  • There's no daily limit. The only limit is your credit limit.
  • Apple Pay and Google Pay don't have a $100 tap and pay limit like normal cards. The limit is unlimited since you biometrically authenticate yourself at the time of payment.
  • You cannot prepay your zip account via BPAY so that it goes into credit. I contacted Zip and they informed me that since they’re not a bank they’re not allowed to hold deposits. If you prepay your account you will be breaching their T&Cs and your account may get blocked. It will take a few days to unblock. Do so at your own risk, some have reported success while others have confirmed they got blocked.
  • You cannot make payments online.
  • Max $30 back per transaction.
  • Excludes Westfield gift cards purchased from Westfield
  • On days other than Saturday, you can still earn 3% or 5% cash back that will accrue towards your rewards balance.
  • Within a twenty-four (24) hour period, you (a) are limited to redeeming your Reward Goal eight (8) times, and (b) will not earn any further credit back if you spend $4,000 or more.
  • 10% back on Super Saturdays will override all other cashback offers with lower % back.
  • By end of 8 January 2021, any credit back that has not reached the Reward Goal will be cancelled.

        • Hi mate, can let me know how it goes? Keen to pay with cc too but not sure abt the cash advance part. Thanks

    • How do we pay with cc? Can only see bpay for making additional payment. And how do we make sure it won't be cash advance? Thanks

  • So I can BPAY like…$30k (and wait until next Sat) and redeem this 100x?

    • Bruh it max out at $1k

      • I'm asking if you can pre-load the card (like any CC).

If I have a $1k credit limit, and pre-load $4k now. I can go out and spend $5k next Saturday (and get back $500).

        • +1

If you read above I believe some people have done this.

  • Looking to stack up on Bunnings Giftcards. They never seem to be more than 3% instore

  • I take that Him/Her/Teen cards in any Woolworth is loooooong gone?

    • Plenty of $50 ones in the South eastern suburbs in Vic

    • Can reward credits only be withdrawn in multiples of $30?

  • So spend 4 transactions, $300 x 3 + $100. Then you can redeem $100 for the day ?

    • Yes

    • +1

You can only redeem $90. You'll have $10 left over. And of you don't get that $10 to $30 by the end of the promotion it will be forfeited.

    • Keep in mind you can pay it off and spend it again as much as you like. It only takes a moment, under "Make an additional payment". Hit the button and it instantly tops up from your debit card or credit card or whatever.

      • Okay, not sure what the deal is with additional payments, but it's worked for me straight away, not sure what the 3 days is, maybe credit cards? Debit card it's been instant. Maybe adding a new card?

        • Additional payment can only be made for processed transactions.

Are you saying your purchases from today have already been processed?

          • @Ash-Say: I'm with yas now, sorry. They're probably from last weekend.

  • +1

Better go get some bunnings gc then

  • +1

Do they do credit check? If yes, may be not worth.

    • +1

Yes Zip does credit checks for signups.

  • Auspost doesnt accept Zip Tap payment

    • yes they do, ask for visa credit and it will work

source: i did it a few hours ago

      • that's what I did~~ but it didn't work at the post office i went to:(

        • sounds like operator error, try another one. sometimes they're that thick.

          • @cynicalmike: I tried to pay telstra bill but it wouldn't accept

On the bill it also says for cash payments

            • @impoze: i've had tap and go fail on me once, so the operator then said "i know, i'll fix it, try again". then it worked. they can set it up i think, it's just sometimes they either don't know, or don't want to (possibly higher fees?)

had no issues at 3x different outlets total of 5 gift cards.

              • @cynicalmike: I failed to pay at Aust Pos today as well, on all my bills - it says I have to insert my card. Now that I think back, perhaps the operator did not choose "Credit".

        • They do. I bought some Amazon gift cards this morning and straight away got 10% reward.

    • Didn't work for me either. They said Sydney water doesn't accept credit at the post office. Specifically asked for visa debit

      • Did it work when you ask for "debit"?

      • Samething happen to me this morning at my local Post!

    • +1

false. i got two gift cards at auspost this morning. and paid with Apple Pay with my Zip Visa.

      • The prepaid gift card - how much?

      • Paying for bills can be different.

        • Yeah, for bills it's up to the biller and some won't accept credit cards. It should work for regular transactions.

    • Worked for me when buying gift cards at a licensed post office. Just let them know that you're paying by Visa.

  • +5

Should we also put Aldi gift cards up there for "Other giftcards worth considering"? 10% off at Aldi is a pretty good deal.

    • Thanks. Don't know they also have a gift card.

      • +1

Do they charge transaction fees when you buy the gift card?

Edit: Bought $100 of Aldi gift cards, paid $100.50 and got $10.05 back. 9.55% discount.

    • I'll do it when I get home. Too hard to edit on my phone, or maybe the mods can do it

    • +1

If you are on $1500 I wouldn't do it as the $100.50 will make it difficult to max the $150 bonus that can only happen in 5 X $300 precise spends.
1k max credit people is a different story though as $100 slippage to play with .

      • Good point. I wonder if you can load $99.50 per card instead to make it $100 for each card, or pay the extra 50c/ card by cash?

  • When I tried to link my Zip card with Google Pay, the latter complained about my device (Huawei Mate 9) being rooted or modified despite it not being rooted. Spent about an hour trying various things - from updating the phone, clearing cache and turning OEM bootloader unlock on and off but no luck. Sad.

  • Does Zip Pay have any neg impact on your credit history or future credit eligibility? I know Zip Pay does credit check upon sign up but not sure what it means for your credit record/ loan eligibility.

    • It is always good for people who can manage their finance well, not for everyone.

    • Honestly, it's hard to say. Like if you have a fair few credit cards and on top of that you get Zip Pay, then yeh potentially it's not a good look. But if you have it all paid and close it prior to getting a loan or something, your chances can improve.

      • Yes, I am confused about the same. Is it the number of cards (or accounts like Zip Pay) even with timely payments that impact your loan eligibility OR is it just the late payments that do?

On a separate note, does opening too many bank account affect the credit history?

        • +1

Just having applied for either multiple credit cards or loans (including Zip Pay) is considered a liability, regardless of your ability to make the necessary payments on time.

    • Wouldnt' the most it would drop your credit be $1500, or whatever the max zip credit amount is? And if you pay your bills why would it negatively affect you any other way, the service is ubiquitous.

  • By end of 8 January 2021, any credit back that has not reached the Reward Goal will be cancelled.

    • You can accumulate the same reward goal with the 3% on other days. Just calculate what you need to spend up to reaching the $30 and be savvy on the last Saturday so you're left with the high $20s where you can reach the last $30 by the 8th Jan with every day spending at 3% CB or just spend to reach a full $30 on the last Saturday at 10% CB.

      • +1

Could buy gift cards on the last day to reach the limit, cards that’ll let me do grocery shopping I was going to do anyway later.

  • Is that a credit card? Any credit checks done?

  • Bloody great, using it for everything. Make sure you ask for split any in store payment in $300 blocks.

You can get the 10% off, plus when you pay it off with your bank CC, it extends the interest free period and u get rewards points on top.

    • And this repayment via credit card is not considered a cash advance?

      • Would like to know this as well. Need to top up to get more cashback today. Should I pay with debit card or is credit card ok for repayments and topups?

        • +2

With my CBA awards card it counts as "Shopping" a normal purchase. Ive been using Zip for months now and my latest payment was on Thursday. Always been counted as normal purchase. Could change though…..

          • @itsme56: Thanks mate… I am with cba as well… Sounds like a win win… Dont think they can change this without prior notification… So hopefully we shld be good for the december zippy saturdays 😝

            • @Tems: I have maxed out my limit of $1,000. Purchases are still "pending". Is there any way to top up the account so I can spend more today and get the 10% cashback?

        • Appears to not be a cash advance for ANZ (shows as earning rewards points, which would not be the case otherwise).

          • @ely: Anyone knows if Citi MasterCard can be used without triggering cash advance fees?

      • +1

Nope, not cash advance. You get end of month with Zip plus your CC's normal interest free period.

        • Thanks mate.

  • Did my grocery shop. Instant tracking. Very good. Hope they can keep up Saturday 10% or get more cross promo with amazon or kmart etc

    • You can do it in Kmart in store.

      • Meant to say for online purchases - amazon had 10% off max $50 back a few weeks ago which is amazing.

I know we're still a few weeks out from xmas but the local westfield was chokkas with cars trying to get in. Then when you got in, it was packed with people and shops understaffed.. Ahhh

  • Bought a $300 wish gc. Card didn't activate because it was faulty but I still got charged and got the $30 cb. Hopefully free $30. Will update when the refund arrives.

    • That would be pretty sweet

    • Once the refund is processed, there would be negative cashback. I had the same issue with one card.

  • Worked like a charm at Woolies

  • +1

    $1200 HIM cards from Woolworths
    Happy weekend

    • Which Woolies did you go? Any left?

      • I don’t live in the cbd/metro
Anytime there’s giftcard promos there’s always stock

      • Bottom of the the display rack there are hidden draws to store excess cards.
Flip the base up and there are usually plenty if the staff havent re-stocked the cards on the display.

  • I tried this in Myers, DJs and Big W with no luck. The Tap and Pay would not work - the terminal would just say error or change to the insert card option. I have a Samsung s10 so it definitely supports NFC and I have been using samsung pay without issue for years. Please help, spent 500 on gift cards today without this offer……

    • Make Google pay your default nfc pay.

    • Is it Google Pay instead of Samsung pay this is going through, and you normally use Samsung pay? Sorry I'm not sure how Samsung pay works. I had an issue one time and I must have moved it too fast or something and it wanted me to insert. I told them I didn't have the physical card on me and it was asking me to insert, could they try again. They did and it worked fine and has ever time since.

Is there any chance Samsung pay is interfering?

    • I had problem with S10 but worked with older iPhone 7

    • Exact same thing happened to me and I found the fix. Go to your NFC settings and make sure that the 'Secure element position' is set to HCE Wallet. Most likely it's set as SIM Wallet.

  • Is there any way to get around the "Pending Purchases" so you can make an additional payment today?

    • Get another zip account or wait until next Saturday

    • Sign up on the missus' phone? I'm strongly considering…

  • When does the referral bonus show up?

    • A few days usually

      • It's instant in the zip app rewards tracker

        • +1

Referrals aren't last I checked, maybe they've changed.

Are you sure you're not talking about purchases for the 10% back? Those would be instant

  • -1

So if I don’t spend a minimum of $300 all together for the whole day, I’m ineligible for any bonus back?

      1. Purchase anything (any gift cards, services, goods, literally anything) and checkout with Apple Pay or Google Pay by tapping your digital Zip card on Saturday. Do not spend more than $300 in one transaction if you want to maximise your benefit as you won't get 10% back above $300!

Literally, gives you the answer on Step 5 of the post.

      • Yeah I screwed up, spent $300.01
Time to hand in my ozb badge.

      • The confusing part is “do not spend more than $300 in one transaction”, meanwhile you actually do need to spend a minimum of $300 all together to be eligible for the bonus?

        • +1

As in if you spend $350 in one transaction, you will only get $30 CB.

        • +1

The reason it says do not spend more than $300 is because they give u 10% back but a max of $30. So if you spend $450 in ONE transaction, they will only give you $30 back.

So In the case of $450, you say hey I want to do 2 transactions, one of $300 and one of $150. That way you maximise the benefit. 10% back on $300 and $150.
