Get 10% Cashback Every Saturday in December (Max $30 Back Per Transaction) Using Tap & Pay @ Zip

8761

There seems to be a lot of confusion based on the comments so let me try and clarify how this works:

  1. Sign up to Zip Pay. Not Zip Money. You can use the 'Related Offers' at the bottom of this description for new signup options. Note that you must provide your email address or phone number if you want a referral, there’s no referral link and you can’t be referred without that info!
  2. Download the Apple or Android app and sign in with your details. You will need a smartphone with NFC.
  3. Go to the "Cards" tab within the Zip app. Click on Add to Apple Wallet (or Google Wallet if using android).
  4. Go to any store that accepts tap & go on credit/debit cards. Do not ask if they accept Zip Payment as this is a separate payment method.
  5. Purchase anything (any gift cards, services, goods, literally anything) and checkout with Apple Pay or Google Pay by tapping your digital Zip card on Saturday. Do not spend more than $300 in one transaction if you want to maximise your benefit as you won't get 10% back above $300!
  6. You should see the rewards balance reflected under "Rewards" within the "Your Zip" tab of the app immediately.
  7. Once you have reached $30 in credit, click on the redeem button to apply the credit to your account.
  8. Pay off your Zip account by linking a credit card to earn points and defer payment (The screen says debit card but many have confirmed credit cards to work as well - Amex will not work). It takes 3 days for processing payments to finalise and you cannot make additional payments sooner than that.
Things to note:
  • Applying for a Zip account will trigger a credit check.
  • Redeemable once you've reached $30 in credit (I.e. Min spend $300)
  • Rewards balance will continue accruing even if you don't redeem $30.
  • There's no daily limit. The only limit is your credit limit.
  • Apple Pay and Google Pay don't have a $100 tap and pay limit like normal cards. The limit is unlimited since you biometrically authenticate yourself at the time of payment.
  • You cannot prepay your zip account via BPAY so that it goes into credit. I contacted Zip and they informed me that since they’re not a bank they’re not allowed to hold deposits. If you prepay your account you will be breaching their T&Cs and your account may get blocked. It will take a few days to unblock. Do so at your own risk, some have reported success while others have confirmed they got blocked.
  • You cannot make payments online.
  • Max $30 back per transaction.
  • Excludes Westfield gift cards purchased from Westfield
  • On days other than Saturday, you can still earn 3% or 5% cash back that will accrue towards your rewards balance.
  • Within a twenty-four (24) hour period, you (a) are limited to redeeming your Reward Goal eight (8) times, and (b) will not earn any further credit back if you spend $4,000 or more.
  • 10% back on Super Saturdays will override all other cashback offers with lower % back.
  • By end of 8 January 2021, any credit back that has not reached the Reward Goal will be cancelled.

  • Any store rep here?
    I made two transactions.
The first txn I received the 10% instantly and had $45 reward balance.
I made a second txn without redeeming the 1st one, now this second txn didn't track the 10% reward.

Did I do something wrong? I thought I could make multiple txns without redeeming the first 30?

    • Pull down the screen to refresh.

      • Which screen in the app?
Edit: i pulled down to refresh the "your zip" screen, nothing happened.

    • Kill the app then reopen

      • Did this too. Force stop the app and reopen. Same results. :(

  • Can use credit card to pay the ZIP balance?Anyfees?Gain reward point with credit card?

    • +1

Yes. Citibank issued cards (including Coles, Kogan) give pts on Zip repayments. Just made repayment with MQ issued card on Friday and I can confirm it soon.

      • MQ issued cards (including Myer, Woolworths) also give pts.

  • Went to my local woolies, bought a gift card (no extra reward points though) and extra items, and notified of the 10% cashback. Too easy.

Next step is to see if I get any reward points on the Commbank Credit card once I pay it back (therefore counts as a retail transaction)…

    • Zip repayment is a purchase trxn by major banks.

      • 3% cashback on weekdays for tap and pay + extra points… wow. We will have to see if the banks let it slide forever or will they crack down on it. I guess as long as Zip pay is willing to pay the interchange fee then all is well. Interesting times ahead.

        • I already spent $3k+ with 3% cashback in the last 3 weeks, during which there were some great giftcards sale @ Coles/Woolies. Compounding discounts sweetened the deal.

  • +2

I double dipped on discounts where I could -

    • Purchased a few hundred dollars of discounted HIM Cards from BigW.
    • Used with my 7/11 fuel lock (which I was already getting 39c/L discount)
    • Used with my monthly 10% off shop at Woolworths.

Also paid a bill at the post office and got a few things at Bunnings.

    • +1

Buy a Wish/Coles GC with the remaining available credits in Zip to max out the benefit.

Pros should have ZERO available to spend in Zip tonight.

    • Wonder if wws 10% off can be used for purchasing gift card?

  • How many $300 spends can you do today for the max ?

    • 3 because you have $1000 credit limit.

      • Can't you keep restacking the zip after using from a debit card ?

      • if you have $1000 credit limit, you should be able to spend up to $1,090.

claim the 3x$30 zip credit. and you will have $190 available credit.

but you should just spend the extra $150 each week to accumulate 2x$30 zip credit.

        • Can you paying off when you hit your limit and start again???

          • +1

@fishandchips: Yes you can pay it off as soon as the transaction had finalised.

          • @fishandchips: Yes, but it can't be on the same day.

Coles is the most efficient store. All purchases made yesterday were finalised this morning so that I may repay this part to restore some available limit.

            • @Neoika: I checked mine late last night and the coles transactions were all finalised.

    • You can use as many time as you can but depends on your zap limit, I can only spend $1000 a week or something in total

      • Once all pending trxns settle down, you can repay the full balance off to restore the full limit.

Woolies 2 days, Coles 1 day for me.

  • Amazon cards are where it's at from next week, esp over Boxing Day you should be able to stack with Cashback. I'm personally just going to hold and wait for a PS5 through Amazon, 10% is better than I'll be able to get anywhere else if I can find any cards in stock.

    • +1

I bought some eBay gift cards at 10% off hoping that on Boxing Day eBay will tun a 20% off on some stores and I can buy the 3070 or 3060 ti for a reasonable price after the discounts even with the eBay jacked price.

  • I cannot seem to link my Zip account to Google pay. I was told not to do via "generate a single-use card", but I cannot seem to find alternative card details. All the links in Zip app do not work, it just doesn't load! Try to search online, and it says "go to the 'Cards' tab at the bottom" - but there is no "cards" tab! This is so confusing! Any help would be appreciated.

    • does your phone support NFC? do you have the latest app version?

  • +5

I want to cry. I was doing the 3rd $300 gift card.
Just about to tap, low battery popped up, then apple pay defaulted back to my amex…transaction went through.
    🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬
Make sure your phone’s charged peeps.

  • Not much left after I finish work. I managed grab $500 eBay from bigw, and $200 Amazon from 7-11. I think even wish gift card coles or BP are good ideas. We are going to spend money anyway.

  • +1

I'm thinking buy the prepaid $250 visa/ mastercard that about 8% gain after fees . I'll pay my rates for example .
Besides points giftcard offers it has to be the strong 2nd .

    • Swipe your flybuys at Coles for 2000 points on the $250 Coles Mastercard

    • If you buy one from Coles you will earn 2000 points

    • +2

If you still can find an open AusPost, get their Mastercard Gift Card at $294 + $5.95 fee.
      Dont get the reloadable one.

      Slightly better than Coles $257.

  • Used this 4 times today; just bought coffee, fuel, burger, jb gift card.. went to use it on a massage for the 5th transaction and it was declined twice?? Anyone have that happen to them? Was pretty embarrassing. The massage was only $60 and I still had $245 available credit?

I’m not sure if the account has been blocked or something or maybe the massage place just had dodgy eftpos? Not sure if I am game enough to try it at another store today

    • Did you redeem after reaching $30 before doing your next transaction?

      • Didn’t reach the $30 yet.

Paid with my Westpac CC, weird how Zip didn’t work just for that one store.

  • It seems like this Zip Pay + Visa partnership just launched in late October. So this is pretty recent. So if you are really after QF points and you have one of those QF Premier cards which dont have mobile payment support, you don't need to take it with you anymore. Link it to the Qantas Premier cards and you're set.

I'm not sure if even the 3% cashback on tap and pay will last forever but strike while the iron is hot now. Sounds like an introductory offer to all of us.

    • I think 3% ends 8th January

  • How soon we need to pay back to Zip to avoid fees and interest charge? Is Zip transaction like credit card come with 55 days interest free?

    • +2

Minimum monthly repayments are required. A monthly account fee of $6.00 applies. Pay your closing balance in full each month and we'll waive the fee.

    • +5

No interest charge, only $6/mth fee may be applicable. Previous month statement is issued in the beginning of the current month. I recommend manual repayment.

To avoid $6/mth fee, in plain English
Any amount spend between 1-31 Dec must be repaid by 31 Jan.
Any amount spend between 1-31 Jan must be repaid by 28/29 Feb.

      • I asked them on email about when my November balance was due and they replied:

"Your first $6.00 account keeping fee will be charged on 01/02/2021 - you have until then to pay the remaining balance of xx before being charged the fee."

It doesn't sound like what they told me was actually accurate

        • I have been using Zip for 4 months and am very sure about what I said.

Actually the statement mentions it when you receive it.

"Pay your November closing balance of $9XX by 31 Dec 2020 (31 days) and pay no fees".

I think many people want to repay the full balance before the next Saturday so that they can spend more with 10% cashback.

          • @Neoika: I definitely believe you! I'll be paying the balance off in a few days with a credit card.

        • +1

Once you get a "physical" statement, it is all spelled out very clearly. It looks a lot like a bank credit card statement.

        • That just mean you will always have until the last day of the next month to pay what you owe to avoid fees. This basically gives you no less than one month and no more than two months to pay what you owe before you are charge a fee.

      • So how to pay by using reward money?

      • How do you turn on manual repayment? It won't allow me to delete the credit card details I entered. Anyone?

  • The virtual card for single use is interesting. Are there any other provider that does this?

    • I'm not sure of any current providers. I do know Up Bank plans to provide a per merchants and one time use card details.

    • Velocity Global Wallet and 1 product from Westpac corporate card that I can't recall.

  • Never used this before. What’s the best way to sign up and get a $1429 iPhone from JB? Bit confused by it all to be honest!

    • +1

New user can only get $500 or $1000 account limit.
      Ideally:
1 Sign up to Zip Pay with referral link (get $10)
2 Add the Zip Pay VISA to Apple Pay/Google Pay
3 Buy Him/Her GC from Big W currently on additional 10% (so 20% stacked) with the linked card
      4 Split the payment into 3x $300 and 1x $100 (total $1000 GC)
5 The rest of the GC you can do next Saturday (minus the Zip Rewards - you must redeem this)

But you're a bit too late, the Big W promo expires 9 Dec and Zip Pay 10% cashback is only on Saturday.
So next Saturday (or today), spend $1000 on JB GC
Next next Saturday, spend the rest of the amount - Zip Rewards on JB GC
Get your iPhone at 10% OFF

      • Thanks mate. I’ve hunted for those big w cards with no joy. Was happy to get 10% off so could still get that. So I basically need to buy JB gifts cards up to $300 each until I get to $1430?

        • +1

          Yes.
You can get the cashback (Zip Reward) instantly but you must claim it. You can do it for every subsequent purchase or do it at the last GC in 1 go. You can also not use the Reward towards the GC purchase (if you're scared of holding up the queue) and therefore using it like normal card purchase but the Reward expires on Jan 8.
Just do one $300 first so you know what's happening in the Zip Pay before buying more.

          • @brokenglish: Can you keep getting rewards without redeeming the first $30.

So keep buying in $300 txns until rewards reach $90 and claim them all at once?

Or do you actually need to redeem everytime it reaches $30?
            Have you tested it?

            • +2

@emboon: You can keep spending $300 and claim rewards at the end.

Bought $300 gift cards twice, and then claimed $60 later (in 2 clicks)

              • @kulprit: Once you claimed the rewards in 2 clicks, next time you use tap & zip, does it automatically use your rewards first or you STILL have option to hold it till later?

                cheers.

                • +2

@Stickout: They aren't really rewards like that. Just think about it like they'll reduce the balance you have to pay back.

      • Thanks
Spent $900 last Saturday, only got 190 left.
How can I get back to $1000 before next Saturday?

        • Sorted out by myself
Need wait for the pending and pay off

  • Unable to get to shops and buy physical discounted gift cards today. Purchased via Prezzee App. 🤗

    • Am I missing something? The 10% cash back is Tab & Pay only?

      • Yes, tap using Apple/Google Pay at terminal only. It may also be possible with online shops that do Apple/Google Pay as reported by other users.

        • From what I can see Prezzee app ask for credit card number or Paypal, I guess the credit number method activates Googe Pay?

        • Just tried final minute prezzee purchase, $5 gift card, only tracked 3%, terms says ends 11.59pm, weird lol.

          • @rainbowyen: So if I purchase a gift card tomorrow using Prezzee website I will get 3% back?

            • @Moo Deng: yeah but why would u? wait until next Saturday

              • @rainbowyen: It’s for Secret Santa at work on Friday lol

                • @Moo Deng: how did you get the card number to you use at the prezzee's checkout? there is no google pay option.

    • Where is the option to pay via google pay in the app?

    • Could you confirm whether you were able to get 10% rebate paying with Apple Pay on the prezzee site/app? Thanks!

      • Just try to buy a $5 gift card, how much will you lose?

      • +1

Yes, I did. I bought $1500 (in smaller transactions) worth of prezzee cards and got $150 straight back. Then, I bought more with the $150 and got another $15 back🤗.

        • It possibly doesn't work anymore. I just purchased a $5 gift card but no cash back.

          • @joewg12: Yeah, I just tried too and it is only giving me 3%now, not 10% :(

            • @Linnylin: So u guys bought it after midnight?

              • @tinx: Yeah, I did. I sent a message in the help section and this morning there was a credit listed as ‘missing reward’ in my account but no reply email etc. I purchased more this morning and can confirm it works on those transactions.

  • Grabbed some last minute ikea gc from ww tonight for a stacked 20% off.

  • Anyone purchase Wish GC recently at Woolies? Just bought 3 x$100, tap & zip.. but not showing in rewards..!! Refreshed, closed app and restart. Still nothing. It is showing in the activity statement of transactions, but not in rewards list.. Crap!!

    • Worked for me. And I'm sure plenty others did the same. Can't offer an explanation why though.

    • Bought $300 in one transaction today without any issue. Tacked instantly.

      • Did it show up as one transaction in rewards page? Or was it twice? One for 3% then another for the remaining 7% due to saturday promo so total of 10%

        • +1

          Only one 10%

    • My 3% transactions from the week was tracked fine. Just today's 10%. I only had time to do the run now.. wonder if they ended it early for Saturday?? Feeling at a loss.

      • Farts, I just saw it come through but at 3%. WTH ?? ZIP Rep for answers..??

    • Same here, I just purchased a gift card at woolies and it’s tracking 3%
