Get 10% Cashback Every Saturday in December (Max $30 Back Per Transaction) Using Tap & Pay @ Zip

8761

There seems to be a lot of confusion based on the comments so let me try and clarify how this works:

  1. Sign up to Zip Pay. Not Zip Money. You can use the 'Related Offers' at the bottom of this description for new signup options. Note that you must provide your email address or phone number if you want a referral, there’s no referral link and you can’t be referred without that info!
  2. Download the Apple or Android app and sign in with your details. You will need a smartphone with NFC.
  3. Go to the "Cards" tab within the Zip app. Click on Add to Apple Wallet (or Google Wallet if using android).
  4. Go to any store that accepts tap & go on credit/debit cards. Do not ask if they accept Zip Payment as this is a separate payment method.
  5. Purchase anything (any gift cards, services, goods, literally anything) and checkout with Apple Pay or Google Pay by tapping your digital Zip card on Saturday. Do not spend more than $300 in one transaction if you want to maximise your benefit as you won't get 10% back above $300!
  6. You should see the rewards balance reflected under "Rewards" within the "Your Zip" tab of the app immediately.
  7. Once you have reached $30 in credit, click on the redeem button to apply the credit to your account.
  8. Pay off your Zip account by linking a credit card to earn points and defer payment (The screen says debit card but many have confirmed credit cards to work as well - Amex will not work). It takes 3 days for processing payments to finalise and you cannot make additional payments sooner than that.
Things to note:
  • Applying for a Zip account will trigger a credit check.
  • Redeemable once you've reached $30 in credit (I.e. Min spend $300)
  • Rewards balance will continue accruing even if you don't redeem $30.
  • There's no daily limit. The only limit is your credit limit.
  • Apple Pay and Google Pay don't have a $100 tap and pay limit like normal cards. The limit is unlimited since you biometrically authenticate yourself at the time of payment.
  • You cannot prepay your zip account via BPAY so that it goes into credit. I contacted Zip and they informed me that since they’re not a bank they’re not allowed to hold deposits. If you prepay your account you will be breaching their T&Cs and your account may get blocked. It will take a few days to unblock. Do so at your own risk, some have reported success while others have confirmed they got blocked.
  • You cannot make payments online.
  • Max $30 back per transaction.
  • Excludes Westfield gift cards purchased from Westfield
  • On days other than Saturday, you can still earn 3% or 5% cash back that will accrue towards your rewards balance.
  • Within a twenty-four (24) hour period, you (a) are limited to redeeming your Reward Goal eight (8) times, and (b) will not earn any further credit back if you spend $4,000 or more.
  • 10% back on Super Saturdays will override all other cashback offers with lower % back.
  • By end of 8 January 2021, any credit back that has not reached the Reward Goal will be cancelled.

    • Scroll back up to the top of the page and go over the bold text. Don't wanna ruin your Saturday.

I'm rather checking every day to see if they'll let me increase my limit. I'm spewing I didn't take it up when they were offering me $1500 limit a little while back.

    • +1

My account was $700 over the limit for a few days last week, and it has been fine so far.
I think you can only try and take the risk.

      • Thanks. I put in an extra $300 and it was fine.

    • -2

      Yep, no problems here.

I suspect that those who claim their accounts that have been suspended or something, either have no clue about what's going on, or aren't being entirely truthful about other aspects of their account or conduct.

    • I put $500 into my account when I was sitting on around $900, so I was in credit around $1400. Worked for me with no issues. YMMV

    • +2

Don't do it, this dodgy company will ask you to call the bank to reverse the BPAY instead of simply refunding you. I don't even think that is ground to block your account either. Remember reversal of BPAY payment will incur cost with many banks.

They have been randomly block ppl account even though with just a few hundreds over, so do it at your own risk and with all the hassle that may follow.

Those who account hasn't been blocked yet doesn't mean that it won't happen. If it happen to your account you surely will miss out this Saturday, so do it at your own risk.

    • +1

Downvote the good advice? All the best for Saturday then.

  • +2

Not sure why the OP put the Only1 Visa amount at $492.05, you can just load max $500 to max out the benefit, the $7.95 fee is not part of the max $500 limit.

    • So it matches the zip pay limit of $1000/$1500

      • It should also take into account the available zip credit after the transactions.

I was able to purchase 3x$507.95 gift cards with my $1,500 credit limit.

        • exactly, OP forgot to calculate the redeemed credit.

    • Have updated it. The original amount on the deal was $292.95 because I didn't realise you could split the payment at woolies… Then realised and just updated it to $492.95. Agree that the maximum benefit is achieved at $500 (also makes it easier to spend $500 vs 492.95)

  • How does it work: these redeemed credit goals deducted from the total balance in the statement?

    • yep

  • -1

Wondering if square pay transactions qualify for super Saturday…1.9% fee Vs 1.6% fee on variable load cards.

    • -2

Did you read the Super Saturday terms and conditions?

      • -1

Should just present as another merchant terminal…
        What did I miss?

Tomorrow (Thursday) is the final day to BPAY to have your payment reach your Zip Money account on Saturday morning.

  • I'm considering to buy the Coles Prepaid MC (activation fee $5) or the Only 1 VISA card (activation fee $7.95) this Saturday. Anyone know would it work if I buy Coles & Myer gift card instead and use it to buy Coles Prepaid MC or the Only 1 VISA card when Coles run promo with FF points?

      • Thanks, mate! Interestingly, I tried buying a $50 Coles/Myer GC with a $100 Coles/Myer GC on self check out and it did not work. Went ahead to buy using Zip. Am I missing something?

        • Haven't tried it yet but I'm a bit sceptical that it works

        • I believe that you can buy other non Coles Myer gc with Coles Myer gc, but you should hide it until the staff looks somewhere else.

          • @yht: In short, Coles Myer GC can be used to buy any 3rd party GC including Coles Prepaid MC.

            • @F1ngolf: Correct, system wise. But not allowed by senior staff.

  • How does it work?

I had $1000 limit after the application approved. Last Saturday I purchased 3x $300 Coles Gift Cards, redeemed the goal rewards (3x $30) and now have $190 available to spend on Zip App. How can I bring the limit back to $1000 available to do the same 3x $300 purchases this Saturday? I thought it should have been 'cleared' automatically and $1000 limit would be available by now.

But it is not, as only $190 available? It is confusing. Do I need to pay off the spent $900 to the account asap for the limit $1000 to be available on Saturday? If yes, I don't see any options in app to pay off the spent $900…

    Any ideas?

    • make additional payment.

      • I assume $810 ($900- $90= $810)? It is shown as December balance

        • yes if you want to spend the $1,000 limit

  • Just noticed you can pay off Zip balance with Apple Pay. Anyone tried to pay off zip balance with Apple Pay using Zip card? :P

    • +1

      Tried but doesn't work

    • It won't and shouldn't work. We should be worried if it does.

    • So that's like paying off zip balance with zip? How does that work lol

  • +2

Noticed this in the T&Cs of the 3% and 10% offers.

“Within a twenty-four (24) hour period, you (a) are limited to redeeming your Reward Goal eight (8) times, and (b) will not earn any further credit back if you spend $4,000 or more.”

    • Ok good to know but neither a) or b) is likely to happen to most as our credit limits are either $1000 or $1,500.

There might be a minority with $2,400 limit (a) or the over $4000 limit (b)

      • They should have just done it that way if they want to limit instead of blocking ppl account. I have complained them to AFCA.

    • +3

Good on you for finding the additional term. In an earlier post, I noticed that Zip Co added terms relating to 'engaging in this promotion through fraudulent, deceptive, or dishonest actions or means'.

It is unreasonable to expect customers to be looking up terms and conditions immediately prior to each transaction and/or to be substantially modifying those conditions without notice to customers (even though the Zip Co promotional terms seemingly allow the terms to be changed at any time).

Zip Co knows who its customers are and Zip Co knows which of its customers have already availed themselves of this promotion. It can, accordingly, readily provide them with email notice of changes to terms.

Just like the Zip Co account terms and conditions, these promotional terms, in my view, are poorly written. They don't give anyone (Zip Co or its customers) much certainty.

In a moment, I will run this (what is at least the third change to the terms) through a text comparison tool to check for any other changes. I'll report back here about anything else I find.

      • +8

Zip publishes the terms of this promotion in two places:

https://zip.co/page/supersaturday-terms-and-conditions (these are the terms which appear in the app).
https://zip.co/promotion/super-saturdays (these are the terms which are linked to from the Zip Co website).

I know from my records, the two sets of terms were not identical across the whole duration of this promotion.

Looking at the terms published on the website (the second link), the following changes were made between 7 December 2020 and 24 December 2020.

(Note that this set of terms does not provide any indication that the terms were changed. The in-app version of the terms includes the following text, added in this latest round of changes: 'Last updated 22 December 2020').

Anyway, here are the changes between the two dates:

        Change 1

        The following clause initially stated:

The transaction must be made in accordance with your Tap & Zip Terms and Conditions and your Zip Pay Account Terms and Conditions.

        The following text was inserted:

"and your participation in the promotion must be made in accordance with these terms and conditions,"

        The clause became:

The transaction and your participation in the promotion must be made in accordance with these terms and conditions, your Tap & Zip Terms and Conditions and your Zip Pay Account Terms and Conditions.

        Change 2

        The subsequent paragraph initially stated:

You may only redeem the credit back you accumulate using your Tap & Zip card when the credit back reaches the reward goal stated in the Zip App ("Reward Goal"). If you have reached the Reward Goal, you may redeem the Reward Goal via the Zip App (or any other method we make available to you). The Reward Goal will be applied to your nominated Zip Account within 7 days. You can only redeem the credit back in whole Reward Goal increments.

        The following text was inserted:

"Within a twenty-four (24) hour period, you (a) are limited to redeeming your Reward Goal eight (8) times, and (b) will not earn any further credit back if you spend $4,000 or more."

        The clause became:

You may only redeem the credit back you accumulate using your Tap & Zip card when the credit back reaches the reward goal stated in the Zip App ("Reward Goal"). If you have reached the Reward Goal, you may redeem the Reward Goal via the Zip App (or any other method we make available to you). The Reward Goal will be applied to your nominated Zip Account within 7 days. You can only redeem the credit back in whole Reward Goal increments. Within a twenty-four (24) hour period, you (a) are limited to redeeming your Reward Goal eight (8) times, and (b) will not earn any further credit back if you spend $4,000 or more.

        Change 3

        The following clause initially stated:

No promo code is required to claim the Offer. Should any transaction be refunded the applicable credit back will be adjusted in accordance with your refund.

        "Refunded" was amended to:

"cancelled, refunded, or varied in any manner"

        "your refund." was amended to:

"the cancellation, refund, or variation. If at any time Zip reasonably believes that you are engaging in this promotion through fraudulent, deceptive, or dishonest actions or means, or you violate these or your Zip Pay terms and conditions, we reserve the right to block the release of any Reward Goals, deduct any Reward Goals from your Zip Account, or cancel or block your participation in the promotion."

        The clause became:

No promo code is required to claim the Offer. Should any transaction be cancelled, refunded, or varied in any manner the applicable credit back will be adjusted in accordance with the cancellation, refund, or variation. If at any time Zip reasonably believes that you are engaging in this promotion through fraudulent, deceptive, or dishonest actions or means, or you violate these or your Zip Pay terms and conditions, we reserve the right to block the release of any Reward Goals, deduct any Reward Goals from your Zip Account, or cancel or block your participation in the promotion.

I hope this helps someone who may have to lodge a dispute with AFCA etc.

  • Please note
BPay additional money will lock your account
Also if you spend more than 4000 you will not get any rewards back.

So the scheme is for max $1000 per week.
Even if you are successful in BPay extra money you are unlikely to be benefited from extra funds.

    • How can it be maximum of $4000 if someone is on $1500 limit?

I think $4000 within 24 hours as someone mentioned above.

    • -5

BPay additional money will lock your account

That has not been my experience.

So the scheme is for max $1000 per week

That is untrue. The terms do not state that.

      • +2

Just spoke to ZIP and 4000 dollar limit is per 24 hours.
Making your account in credit by BPAY is against terms and conditions and this is only allowed by rewards credits or transaction reversals
So I retract my earlier comments on $1000 limit.
BPay lock is from own experience and took few days to get it unlocked.

        • -8

          You said:

Just spoke to ZIP and 4000 dollar limit is per 24 hours

Why would you need to speak to Zip Co for that? It's in the terms.

(Maybe you just wanted to have a chat? How many chats have you had with Zip Co? Maybe that's why they blocked your account!)

          You also said:

Making your account in credit by BPAY is against terms and conditions

This is untrue. This is what it states in the terms in relation to placing an account in credit:

          (8) Repayments
( a) You must pay us the Minimum Repayment Amount shown on your Statement by the Due Date shown on your Statement. You may choose to pay more if you wish but you must not put the balance in your Account in to credit.

          And:

          (12) Credit Balances
The Account must not have a credit balance. However, if your Account has a credit balance, Transactions on your Account will firstly be applied to reduce your credit balance.

The part of that clause which states, 'However, if your Account has a credit balance', indicates that accounts can, in fact, be placed in credit and that this is something which is anticipated by Zip Co. Zip Co details the consequences of placing an account in credit, which are that, 'Transactions on your Account will firstly be applied to reduce your credit balance'.

As you can see, your claim that 'Making your account in credit by BPAY is against terms and conditions' is not supported by the terms and conditions and is thus incorrect.

I also note from this link My account is in credit, how do I get a refund? that:

Your account can be in credit from over payment, or from having an order refunded.
You're welcome to leave your account in credit and to use the funds for your next purchase.
If you wish to have the credit refunded to your bank account, you'll need to get in touch with us. Please send us an email at [email protected] or call us on 02 8294 2345, to provide us with your BSB and account number.

          You also said:

BPay lock is from own experience and took few days to get it unlocked

I suspect that your account was locked for other reasons, not simply because you made a BPAY payment. BPAY is a valid repayment method and it is not prohibited by the terms.

I would suggest to Zip Co that it look very carefully at its account terms, promotional terms, and help pages. There are numerous inconsistencies. In my view, they are mess. Hey Zip Co, feel free to employ me to conduct a review.

(Meanwhile, see you at AFCA if you block my account on Saturday!)

          • @YesPleaseThankYou: I agree their terms are inconsistent. How can you imply my account was blocked by other reasons?
Also it was not very clear about 4000 limit.

          • @YesPleaseThankYou: Really fighting this one hard hey? Just quietly, if you report later that your accounts been locked, I'll gain a bit of a cheeky smirk on my face.

Its been mentioned earlier that because Zip is not an Authorised Deposit-Taking Institution, its not in their licence to hold onto your money. They can only extend credit to you. I take it that small amounts one can get away with. But go big and you'll quickly appear on their radar if not triggering an automatic lock.

You've done well so far, but is it really worth the risk and hassle of missing out on easily saving $90 tomorrow?

            • -8

              @eyebrows7:

Really fighting this one hard hey?

There's no 'fight'. I discuss facts. Please re-read my posts.

Just quietly, if you report later that your accounts been locked, I'll gain a bit of a cheeky smirk on my face.

              Each to their own.

Its been mentioned earlier that because Zip is not an Authorised Deposit-Taking Institution, its not in their licence to hold onto your money.

Cite the specific regulations, then let's have a chat. Until that time, the comment is just someone's random opinion on the internet.

They can only extend credit to you.

It seems that they can do much more than 'extend credit'.

But go big and you'll quickly appear on their radar if not triggering an automatic lock.

None of us here know the circumstances of the accounts purportedly 'automatically locked'.

              You've done well so far

You don't know what I've done.

And just remember, Zip Co's own help page states:

You're welcome to leave your account in credit and to use the funds for your next purchase.

              Merry Christmas!

      • After I used my 3rd CC number to repay, my account was put on hold too.

        • Oh, you used 3 different credit cards to repay? I'd understand why that might be deemed as suspicious by Zip. I've only ever repaid with 2 cards so far.

    • Which prepaid mastercard did you use? I could not even add prepaid card to Zip.

  • Has anyone got any trouble with their rewards redemption?

  • So what gift cards are people planning for tomorrow? :)

    • no

  • I love this promotion. It reminds me of when Citi offered me 10% cash back in 2019 for two consecutive calendar months. I prepaid all my bills for about 12 months, paid tax, strata levies etc etc.

There were no limits to repayments, credit balance, or cash back amount. With any size limit (even a small one), if you had the spare cash, you could place your account into a credit balance to increase your available credit and reap the rewards.

Saved me many, many thousands of dollars.

All those trying to pay their Zip accounts with prepaid debit cards they purchased under the Zip Pay promotion deserve to have their accounts blocked permanently.

Thank you Zip Pay. I am again saving big time.

    • I guess this zippay offer is not as good as the offer you received from Citi because a lot of bills can't be paid by credit card at Auspost nowadays. I personally don't know what kind of gift cards to buy tomorrow.

      • The Perfect Gift Card (an eftpos card) for payment at Australia Post.

Yes, the Citi promotion did not require in-store payment—the cash back was for all spend other than interest and fees.

        • Thanks. Used Coles Mastercard Gift Carc before. For Perfect gift card, is it easy to check balance? I found Coles one is very easy to use as in accepted everywhere and easy to check balance. So might just stick with it.

I would say Citi promotion is way better.

            Yes, online. Just Google it.

            That is Mastercard, yeah?

I am only getting The Perfect Gift Card to pay bills at Australia Post, as there's no other way I can pay those bills under this offer.

            • @YesPleaseThankYou: Yes, the Coles one is Mastercard. I never use it at Auspost. But I use it to pay bills online and never have any problems.
Oh, I did use it once to pay for my Victoria driver's license at Auspost and there was a fee.

              • @apple0604: Yep, the bills I want to pay at Australia Post will not accept credit cards, so I have to use the eftpos card.

Even with the $7.95 activation fee, it is worth it on a $500 gift card.

                • @YesPleaseThankYou: So $500 is the max amount you can put on the Perfect Gift Card, right? I might get one tomorrow to pay my council rates. Actually my council rates can be paid by credit card at Australia Post. But I guess only those Australia Post located in big shopping centre will open on boxing day.

Yes, that is my understanding—on the variable load gift card.

You can search for Australia Post (AP) outlets open on a Saturday—just mark the appropriate check box here https://auspost.com.au/locate/

I would be very surprised to find any AP outlet open on Boxing Day.

                    • @YesPleaseThankYou: I just googled. There is one near us, about 10, 15 mins drive, open on boxing day from 9am to 12pm. I doubt I would be able to get there before 12pm if I want to place a couple of orders at Amazon.

                      • @apple0604: Is it worth your time to drive there?

Might be easier to get the eftpos gift card so you can use at your leisure another time.

                        • @YesPleaseThankYou: I have to go there regardless otherwise I would say it is not worth it especially if I have to go there before they close. It is most likely I won't bother. I will just go out in the afternoon and get a few gift cards for future.
