[Prime] Free One Day Express Shipping on Selected Prime Products @ Amazon AU

1012

Just noticed that on some items Amazon are giving free one day shipping… similar to this post in August.
I added a few different items (Nintendo Switch game, a Mandalorian figurine and coffee pods). Free one day shipping was applied to the game and figurine but not the coffee.

Not sure which categories it applies to but it is great if it applies to your item.

Tried with toilet paper and it is standard Prime delivery… so if you need overnight delivery of toilet paper you're out of luck and need to run to Woolies or Coles…

EDIT: Added a screenshot to the post, when you're on the item, if it is eligible the delivery date will show "FREE - Tomorrow". All other items will have a different date which will be Prime Standard delivery.

Still waiting for a few Prime products from Amazon AU but seems like they are not from AU.

    • +5

I got same problem. Ordered something in Oct and still not arrived yet.
The product page still all new orders will be delivered in 3 days or so.
I complained that to Amazon but still haven't heard anything back yet.
Maybe Amazon could do some check on these dodge seller/false information

      • +8

Just chat online with them, they may give you credit or refund.

I did that last time they refunded me because they couldn't tell where was the parcel but finally the parcel arrived a few days later.

Just chat with them at this moment they issued me $5 credit.

    • +3

Don't worry it ain't coming. Chat for a refund. Prime products that doesn't deliver within 1-2 days aren't coming from Aus and should be avoided unless it explicitly say Amazon US or UK. Those Chinese sellers are shady af.

      • As I mentioned they are Prime product from Amazon Australia directly.

      • -1

It won’t be a prime product if it’s shipped from China.

      • Hi, just to note that if they are Prime products they are warehoused by and shipped from Amazon directly.

Only Prime items stating Amazon US or now UK ship from Amazon internationally, Chinese seller or not.

        eBay however…

      • +1

Yep, I don't know why Amazon allow them on the marketplace, just clutters up search results with crap from scum.

    • Same thing here. The dates keep getting extended. Went from 2 days to 5 days to now a week and a half estimated and most things have yet to ship out from "AU Warehouse" after a week already…

      • Ask for refund or credit

        • +1

Currently talking to live chat and have gotten a stubborn agent. Just giving me the covid excuse no matter what I say.

Edit - Got given credit and assurance of delivery by next week or refund and more credit. I guess you have to be a persistent and pushy squeaky wheel..

  • It took me a few reads to understand what is different here than the standard Prime benefit…

The emphasis is one ONE day (instead of the standard 2) - cool

Recently, Prime has delivered between 1-7 days even with Prime products.

    • Some of my orders recently have had delivered by dates of about 2 weeks. Luckily bone have taken that long though.

  • +10

The difference is that Amazon is now using their own delivery drivers compared to Auspost or Fastway. Their delivery drivers are independent contractors.

    • Still comes to here in regional QLD through Australia Post. It's good because i can use Parcel Collect or Parcel Locker.

      • +1

        Yeah some still from AUSPOST

      • It's all Auspost or Fastyway for me in Townsville. Used to get video game pre-orders on release day from Toll but they seemed to have stopped that.

      • +2

This "Deal" is 100% dependent on your location.

    • +4

      I get a mix.

      • Think it depends on their load currently.
For some areas you can pay extra for the one day delivery, which is then delivered by Amazon directly.

    • And Courierplease

    • Yep - anything I order to an actual address in Brisbane comes via Amazon Logistics, but it seems if I order to the parcel locker they use AusPost (cause they are smart).

      • I get a mix of Amazon, AusPost, and Amarex (Fastway) all delivered to my door in BNE. Fastway are the worst.

The 1-2 day shipped stuff seems to be all Amazon though, I don't think they can guarantee that through anyone else.

        • Yeah I've noticed recently if I order to my home address, it's like 1-2 days normally (and sent via Amazon courier). If i order to a parcel locker I'm quoted a few days more.

          Fastway are the worst indeed.

    • Yeah I had a random dude in a Mazda rock up and deliver my order the other day.

For Sydney it's Aus Post unless it's due to arrive on a Sunday then it's a private contractor. And yes Amazon delivers on Sundays now.

    • The majority of mine have been Amazon, stuff from the local warehouse I guess. Next day delivery, even on Sundays.

Odd things they wouldn't sell high volumes of are Auspost or Couriers Please.

  • Most of my items show a free delivery option arrived before 9 Dec. I am in VIC so maybe NSW only again?

    • Nah I'm in VIC as well. This will just mean the items you are looking at aren't eligible for the one day shipping.

      • Yeah apparently, but I think there is a high chance that they will be delivered by Tuesday which is more than better.

      • Your screenshot isnt from today is it. Tomorrow is Saturday.

        • Amazon delivers Saturday and Sunday too

  • +9

It's for the item & location where things get delivered by Amazon Flex (a.k.a Amazon Uber)

Amazon Flex also handles 2d deliveries - Amazon just add one more day to shift stock from an interstate warehouse

You can recognise flex delivery by the tracking number starting from TB and courier marked as 'Amazon Logistics'

.. They've been offering this for ages. Not sure how this is deal worthy. Unless youre telling me since today is Friday, theyre suddenly doing Sat deliveries.

    • +4

They are doing Saturday deliveries and have been for some time.

But yes this isn’t deal worthy. Just standard service from Amazon since sometime earlier this year.

      • +2

Been getting Sunday deliveries in SA as well

        • Me too. Got some of my Black Friday stuff last Sunday, 2 days later.

  • Depends which warehouse they have the stock in. For items they have in the WA warehouse, I've often received them next day.

If it has the option of delivery today then I guess that's the indicator that is in your local warehouse. Same day has always always been a paid extra though so pretty good if can get it at no extra charge.

Expedited delivery used to mean Express Post for most of my Amazon orders. Post COVID most are just Parcel Post, and they seem to take a lot longer before they ship.

Hoping it'll go back to the way it was at some point, but I think a lot of people were introduced to online ordering throughout COVID and will continue.

Delivery services need to pick up their game and not just blame COVID for delays, because I think this is going to be the new normal demand for deliveries.

Edit: Just realised you're talking about next day delivery, not free same day delivery.

  • +10

    Why is this a deal?

    • +4

Its literally just how Amazon operate now. This is their standard service if you're a prime member..

  • Can you link the Amazon Items that showed this for reference?

  • +1

For me it was always like that for all fullfiled by Amazon items if it is in stock at Dandenong warehouse (sometimes even for items from NSW) , order by today 4pm,delivered by tomorrow 8pm (usually around 10am though which is delivered by Amazon Logistics aka by random cars)

  • +1

This has been going on for a while and seems to be still active.
Here is a thread I read about it when I noticed my parcels arriving at turbo speed (overnight).
    August 2019:
    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/474482

The comment by hybroid was interesting. I started seeing more drivers in random cars (contractors I guess) late last year too.

    • The number of items with one day delivery fluctuates, right now it's a lot more than normal, dozens of items I've been watching all flipped to 1 day from 2-4 day in the last week-ish. It's because they have heaps of people on for Christmas and if they don't get the stuff out of the warehouse fast they won't have room for more, so selling it as a 'feature'. I haven't seen anything with 1 day in the last few months until this last few weeks.

  • Not sure where OP is posting from but since Brisbane had it's Amazon warehouse open a month or so ago, common things delivered to Brisbane metro are much faster, even from interstate depots when delivered last mile using their own contractors.

    • It's been getting faster in Brisbane even the last few weeks. A couple of weeks ago 2 days was the fastest, now it's basically next day for a lot of items. I think part of that is the amount of stock they're trying to move and so the number of staff on for the peak period. I'd expect it to drop off a little in the new year. Even having stock locally is based on Amazon's system which determines how much people will be likely to order ahead of time and basically 'forward deploys' stock.

  • +1

??? I thought this was always free. Most of my orders take 1 day to arrive unless it's not in stock. But I'm also a 30min drive away to the Amazon warehouse.

    • +1

Standard Prime delivery is free which is generally minimum 2 days, whereas some items at the moment are delivered within one day.

  • +6

This is not really a deal at all.. It's always been like this, the delivery estimate is dependent on your location. If the product is in a warehouse close to you, your shipping could be as short as one day.

I've often had items 'shipped' notification in the morning and the product arrives within a couple hours. Been this way for months.

    • +3

For all the orders I have placed in the past couple of months, delivery has never come up as "Free ONE Day Shipping". It always displays as "Free PRIME Delivery" which has a different shipping speed. If I wanted one day delivery I would have needed to pay for it.

Maybe it is for you based on your location, I'm not sure, but certainly for me none of my orders are delivered within one day.

  • +1

Not a deal but good for conversation starter. Upvoted.

  • I believe they announced 1 day prime shilling on elegible items a couple months ago and this was posted then…

Also imo not really a 'deal' in the sense it only applies to specific products depending on locations etc.

  • My items were delivered by a guy driving a camry with the courier sticker on the car.
Now let’s wait for that “one-day delivery” prime

  • In Sydney I think it’s anything in the Sydney warehouse that is now delivered next day (even sundays). It’s not AusPost but “delivery by amazon” - they have set up their own delivery / logistics operation as they have in the US.
