Lifetime of the licence key I suppose

    • +31

Volume license keys being resold against the agreement.

However, since Win 10 activates once and forever (unless you change most of your hardware), if the key works when you use it, then you got your money's worth. Just don't expect to be able to reuse it again sometime in the future.

      • +8

No need to reuse. At this price, buy 10 and it will still cost you less than $2. 😂

        • +36

From my experience these keys expire quickly, within 48 hours you won't be able to use them after, I don't know about AliExpress sellers, but eBay sellers if you contact them within a reasonable time, they usually send you another code if you say the one you purchased isn't working. But if you need to activate Windows, buy one, activate, and then you're done, only buy it the day you want to use it. You can keep Windows updated, and use the operating system without any issues.

As to the other comment, you don't need to reuse it again. Once your system is activated, if you ever need to format, you can do a full clean format. Skip past the key part in Windows setup, and once you boot into Windows and it connects to the internet, it will automatically reactivate. That is how it has been since Windows 10 released.

And as other comments have mentioned, these aren't really genuine copies. But they work. You could just as easily seek the high seas for a pre-activated Windows 7 Ultimate, download Windows 10 Media Creation Tool from Microsoft, and upgrade to Windows 10 for free.

          • +9

@ThatsCheap: I used to be an avid navigator of the seas. I've now reformed my ways and am freaked out by the amount of rootkits, malware etc I very likely would have been running all those years.

            It's not worth the risk.

            • +11

@BankstownMoeyDW: The only risk here is that it stops working, no malware risk.

              • @gadgetguy: I know. Purchasing a key is okay. What I discouraged is getting the ISOs via the high seas.

                • +9

                  @BankstownMoeyDW: get it from microsoft

                • +7

@BankstownMoeyDW: You can get the win10 images from Microsoft.

Basically you activate high seas win 7, then upgrade to windows 10.

After that you can do a clean install of win 10 from Microsoft provided media and it will activate due to previous win 7 to win 10 upgrade.

            • @BankstownMoeyDW: this is the key only not Windows itself, what you said is totally irrelevance

              • @leetec: Thank you captain obvious. Seas was a reference to TPB. Obviously malware and rootkits won't be embedded in keys.

          • @ThatsCheap: 10 cents per day still isn’t bad.

          • @ThatsCheap: Any recommendation how I might be able to upgrade my M.2 boot drive without the need for a new key? I have 500GB at the moment as at the time that was all I could afford, but with prices going down steep recently I would love to upgrade to 1 or 2 TB.

            • +7

@BlueDiesel: You should be able to change your harddrive without issue I've only been asked to provide a key when changing CPU's or Motherboards

              • @TheGoodPart: Thank you- guess I'll give it a go.

              • +1

@TheGoodPart: If you try and supply your win 7 password though after you get asked for the key, MS says no. You can opt not to enter a key but you end up stuck with the "Activate windows" watermark down the right hand side of your screen. Ive been ignoring the watermark for close to two years now.

            • +4

@BlueDiesel: If you login to a Microsoft account, the Windows 10 license key will be converted into a digital entitlement, which will then remain with your Microsoft account "forever". You should then be able to completely swap any component in your machine, log back into your Microsoft account, and have the license reactivate without issue.

            • +1

@BlueDiesel: If you have a genuine license I've found microsoft support pretty good at making sure it works.

Source: My current machine is using a license which was originally Vista and has been upgrade though win7,windows 10 and three different computers

            • @BlueDiesel: Mirror your hard drive to the m.2 there are free software online to do that.

            • +1

@BlueDiesel: Err, buy the new drive, clone your existing drive to the new drive… Actually don't Seagate, WD and Samsung all have custom versions of Acronis bundled with their utility suites? I'm certain at least two of them do… Find out what drive cloning software comes bundled with various drives, then get one that suits. Couldn't be easier, we upgrade notebooks like this before shipping out to end users all the time.

              • @TrevorX: I've had some good luck using the linux tool dd. Cloned a bunch of 240gb SSDs using it; takes under 20 minutes per drive (I connect the drives directly to SATA).

            • @BlueDiesel: The key is tied to the motherboard. Just make a new installation and it will authorise after installation

          • @ThatsCheap: I have old HP computers' activated Windows 10 License Keys - can they be used in my new computer?

            • @bbtlovebbt: If the key is already activated on another computer, no you can't use it with another (unless it's not an OEM key, maybe). But if you're upgrading a few components, most likely it's fine. Usually once a motherboard/CPU are changed, Windows loses activation.

To check if your Windows 10 is not OEM, which I doubt since it sounds like you have a HP PC, use this method:

              https://www.majorgeeks.com/content/page/how_to_check_if_your…

          • +1

@ThatsCheap: This. Ive been doing it for a few years now, and ebay will shaft you if they can - so buy on day and only when you have the activiation window sitting ready to run, to minimise chance and hassle

        • All 10 will be the same key 😂

      • +3

Deal of the day: buy a mask for $0.20 and find your favourite store and run away with your favourite item.

However, since you cant be identified with the mask on, if the mask doesnt snap when you use it, then you got your money's worth. Just dont expect to be able to reuse the mask again sometime in the future.

      • +2

Unless, you change the motherboard. Anything else will not affect the licence key.

      • Don't volume licence keys require periodic activation via a KMS? I doubt these key are volume licence if they don't require that.

But if you're gonna fork out 20c for a licence that's almost certainly not legit, why not just pay nothing and activate Windows with the digital licence trick instead? Either way Microsoft isn't getting your money.

"Only the first key that the seller gave was already activated. But the next day he sent another and everything came up."
    Yeah - Sounds totally legit.

  • +84

Yes, must be genuine. $0.20 is a very common price that microsoft like to put on software.

  • +11

100% sure these are MSDN keys.

Dear friend I am waiting for Microsoft to supply more keys

Russian reviews. Borat says NOICE! Wawaweewa!

    • +9

      Borat isn't Russian though.

      • +1

They speak Russian in Kazakhstan though

      • +3

        Borat is jewish in disguise.

        • -1

The actor is, not the character. Any issue with that?

          • +1

@Tuukmaak: The issue is, the pun is used in the context.

          • +1

@Tuukmaak: Borat ironically speaks lots of Hebrew (masquerading as Kazakh).

        • Russian or Kazakh people can't be Jewish?

    • +49

He is my neighbor Nursultan Tuliagby. He is pain in my assholes. I get a window from aliexpress, he must get a window from aliexpress. I get a step, he must get a step. I get a clock radio, he cannot afford. Great success!

    • +1

      COMЯADES….
Aliexpress is very popular in Russia. There are special fulfillment centres even there. Everyone buys something, even my father in his 70s ordered all his electronics and hobby tools from Ali. That is why so many comments in Russian.

  • +49

Please bear in mind it's actually 22c when you include the GST, so not such a bargain !

    • +44

stuff that. I'm getting officeworks to pricebeat this post.

      • -1

Holy moly, imagine if they actually do it.

        • +2

          Imma broden their entire stock.

    • nah, new user discount can get 95% off, pay only 0.01 USD…

  • +7

    Lol $0.01 for new users.

      • 0.03 GST LOL = 4 cents total
  • +50

AliExpress is where I go for genuine products. You should too

    • +2

It's where I get my baby powder from. Totes legit.

      • +10

        Powder made from babies?

        • +3

Is there any other kind? I suspect it's mostly girl babies since they're mostly thrown out but you make do.

Actually meant baby formula but this is still funny.

          • +2

@Caped Baldy: urghh now I don't want to know where the baby powder and baby oil at colesworth comes from!!!

          • +2

@Caped Baldy: it's at least 0.20% funnier now

        • Or so you'd like to think. In reality they cut it with asbestos or something so you're only getting about 50% baby in your powder. Buyer beware.

  • +27

Microsoft would prefer you pirate it for free rather than pay commercial software pirates.

  • +1

Oh yes, those review would be genuine for sure.. I mean why pay $200 when you can get it from Russia or Asia for 20 cents.

    • +13

I pity any home user that has paid 200…

  • +3

Microsoft does not seem to care any more. Once the hardware is licensed it is good forever.

The budget licenses are the way to go.

    • +4

They know that the real money is not in these home users. The real money is in those msdn subs.

      • +14

Lots of MSDN is practically free these days. The real money is in recurring Microsoft 365 subscriptions for every business user.

        • +6

          That and the data harvesting.

  • +3

This guy from the deal post looks happy having scored the Windows 10 bargain of his life.

    • +7

mfw when Microsoft is ringing me on Teams

    • +1

Microsoft's gone too far. Charging people extra to buy Windows licences after already purchasing MS's own Surface

  • +1

The payment amount has not reached the minimum limit of AU $1.50.

  • +2

Probably a resale of OEM licenses from broken or binned laptops

  • +7

This is the dodgiest looking post I've seen all year!

And it's been a very long year indeed, especially here in Locktoria (Melb)….

  • +1

Are there bots upvoting this deal?

    • +1

      UNACCEPTABLE!!

    • +5

      Have you seen the price?

At this price we are basically bots.

    • i am bot

  • +5

So this is what the cost price of those licence keys I pay off eBay. $2-3. Before their listings get taken down. And sellers have no rating haha.

For what it's worth, they do work and thus has my upvote.

As dodgy as it looks lol.

    • +2

Yeah haven't had an issue so far with cheap ebay keys. As long as it works…
