Myer / Kenwood Reneging on Online Offer

Hi,

I bought a Kenwood food processor [FDP646SI] from Myer, where a $50 gift voucher was advertised.

The webpage has changed since then and the offer is no longer visible on Myer website
https://www.myer.com.au/p/fdp646si-multipro-home-food-proces…

Kenwood Site : http://www.kenwoodpromo.com.au/Default.asp

The Kenwood site does not list the model I bought

However, if we do a google search, for the term "Purchase Kenwood MultiPro Home Processor FDP646SI and receive BONUS $50 Wiltshire",

the cached google result still shows the offer
l
"Purchase Kenwood MultiPro Home Processor FDP646SI and receive BONUS $50 Wiltshire Gift Voucher via supplier redemption. See the details. Bonus via"

Ironically it shows other models as well which are not included on the Kenwood page [FPM810]

How do I save this information?

I also have a photo we took to compare different models of the webpage.

  • I’d call Delonghi and ask them. I’m sure it can be straightened out.

tells you "For details and to claim go to www.kenwoodpromo.com.au"

    Scroll down…

    Your Food Processor isn't eligible.

I think OP is saying the offer was originally promoted on the item, they bought without reading the fine print on a different site, and now Myer has corrected their mistake.
I think this is a fair enough complaint, it is certainly misleading to state a cash back offer for a product is available if you have to visit somewhere else to see it isn’t. Myer likely just made a mistake, fixed it up, but OP purchased in the meantime.

OP, use the “print screen” key if you are on a windows machine and a image of the screen is saved to your clipboard.
You can then paste that into a word doc or email message.

I would send that image to Myer saying you purchased while the listing displayed the cash back as available. You understand now that was not correct, but that was one reason you made the purchase, so would Myer please refund you $50 or send you a gift card (often easier for a customer service person to organise).

Let's be honest, any modern retailer's terms more than cover their ass, which they do in this instance

9.3. Certain offers, including cashback and bonus redemptions are subject to additional terms (as specified with the offer). You should read these terms carefully, as time limits will apply to cashback and bonus offer redemptions. Cashback and bonus offers redemption may require you to send a form to the supplier, and may exclude postage and handling costs and any other costs incurred as a result of redeeming the offer.

Beyond the normal "human error accidents happen" line in the terms.

Normally you'd research a bit further, check offer expiry or what you need to do to claim the cashback, or in what form it comes in.

This is a case of quickly buying without double checking, and then realising the stuff up later on

        • I understand what you are saying, but when I do the search the OP says, I see this:

          https://ibb.co/8zXM4cQ

It is very clear the Myer people intended the advertised redemption to apply to the model OP purchased in the meta data they pushed to google.
I don't disagree that they have T & C's to cover their error, but I also think it is fair that when you see a heading saying this particular model you are looking at is covered by a $50 redemption, see details, that it isn't reasonable to expect the details say "The model we just said was included is not eligible".

So I reckon it is well worth seeking a $50 credit from Myer for promoting the product in a misleading way.
The advertising laws are very explicit that this sort of approach is illegal, and nobody is saying it was anything but an error that Myer corrected pretty speedily.

But their error did mislead, and OP is the one not getting the $50.

  • Google Cache just has "supplier redemption offer"
