MyMemory 32GB Class 10 SDHC - $35.90 Delivered. Promotional Item Included

240

MyMemory are again doing a discounted deal on their in-house brand of 32GB Class 10 SDHC.

Official Specs are as follows:
Write Speed: 19MB/s
Read Speed: 23MB/s

I know some people in the past have been unhappy with the MyMemory SDHCs. Personally, I bought one about a month ago which I tested with CrystalDiskMark. It tested with the same speeds as the official specs. Note, the picture on the MyMemory website has "Up to 20MB/s" on the card. People before have noted that their cards did not have this sign and their reported speeds were slower. However, my card also didn't feature that sign and my card still met the official specs. So maybe it's just luck of the draw…

As for the promotional item… The one I received was a pair of iphone-like in-ear earphones. The quality was rubbish so just give it as a gift for Christmas for someone you really hate.

Anyhow, good luck.

Positive vote just for the comment in the end about the earphones…:)

I have bought 3 of these cards. Happy with all of them.

  • The Transcend 16GB class 10 is also a good deal, bought these before I saw this post.
    The Transcend link : http://www.mymemory.co.uk/SDHC/Transcend/Transcend-16GB-SD-C…

  • I also just got one of these for my new camera, I get about 15MB/s but my card reader has class 6 written on it so it may be the limiting factor.

It works great in my Canon SX230HS, why pay more for other brands when these perform as good?

Bought one of them about 3-4 months ago… Pretty happy with it when used for photo taking - video for some reason seems to be more temperamental - maybe I just need to format the card within the camera. My speeds using a cheap USB to SDHC adapter:

    Writing speed: 16.5 MByte/s
    Reading speed: 19.1 MByte/s

Card was delivered pretty quickly from the UK and feels safer buying from them than buying from ebay.

I believe they ship from Jersey (or another such island) and not the UK. Makes them VAT exempt for UK shoppers I believe.

Last order I placed took 22 days, but that was longer than normal.

    • Might be worth trying formatting the card in your camera, I have no problems with video from my Canon, video is 1080p @33.6Mbps.

      • I moved all the files off the card about an hour ago and performed a camera low level format, and it seems the buffer under runs have stopped - I did have about 500 files on the card prior so that may have had something to do with it - and I've bought another card :) as well as the SDHC/SDXC card adapter bundle they offer for around 2.5 pounds more — always good to have a spare SD card reader floating around….

Meh for extra 6$ get a patriot card from MSY.. y wait 3 weeks for a suspect card

A lot of people don't like dealing with/queueing at MSY and others don't have one nearby.

And it's not "a suspect card", MyMemory have been around for a decent length of time and are known for not selling dodgy cards. Royal Mail airmail is usually bloody fast and it magically appears in your postbox a week or two later.

People don't spend an extra $6 (an extra 17%!) because they'd be getting less for more money.

      • surprisingly enough MSY had that one on special for 31 bucks

      • Id vote for msy too. They can be difficult at times but you've got some chance of warranty with them. If you buy from the uk and it's a dud it can get very difficult if you want warranty

        • Msy are cheap and cheap . I always phone ahead to make sure they have stock on hand because more often than not on bargains they have no stock . If they don't answer the phone I don't bother .

        • Take it from a guy who's going to the CTTT to get money back from MSY, you have NO CHANCE of a warranty with them. They were fined $200,000 and are forced to display a consumer notice on their website by the ACCC for that very reason (disregarding warranties). I'd much rather deal with MyMemory than try and get a cent back from MSY again.

  • I bought one a few weeks ago, here is my benchmark:

    21MB/s read
    19MB/s write

  • DON'T BUY THIS LOW QUALITY SD CARD.

I bought it 4 months ago, it died on my trip overseas with 10 days of photos!!!

I sent email to them to arrange refund but got some auto reply kind of email a few days later. Can't be bothered to ship it back to UK.

I won't use it even it's free. Photos are priceless.

    • Bit late to hear this news but from someone who has lost critical data more than once here is what I do with everything now.

I purchased "Second Copy 8.0" for $29 USD. It's amazingly efficient and powerful for such a tiny piece of software. It can auto backup / syncronise / compare ++++ more. I have critical stuff backed up and archived onto a network location for extra safety. Reading your post has just got me to set up a profile for this memory card, I've never had one fail but don't want to find out the hard way either. Thanks, but I am sorry to hear your story at the same time. Consider the above, or I'm sure there are free options available too but this software is worth 10 times its price if it saves data just once (it's saved me about 4 times so far!)

EDIT: It can also do off-site backups via FTP though I've never used this feature.

      • I've been using second copy for years. All my doc/photos are sync to my NAS. However, when you're traveling, it's hard for you to backup photos daily basis without laptop or other gadgets.

Even though, I'd like to pay $20 sometimes for not losing whole day photos.

Now I just buy sandisk even it's slower, smaller in capacity as I've never got the issue with that brand.

  • What are the benefits of a faster sd card and what equipment will benefit from one?

    • The read and write faster. For DSLR with Full HD video recording capabilities they can be useful.

And if you shoot RAW then it's better to have faster card!

  • Bought card from this deal, just arrived.
I get about 15MB/s write and 19MB/s read, good enough speeds for me :)
