Outdoor Waterproof Smart Plugs - Where Are The Ones for Australian Power Sockets?

Have a water feature that I want to be able to control using a smart power outlet, that's hooked up to an IP44 outdoor power outlet.

However I can't find any Australian Socket "Outdoor Smart Plugs" that are compatible with Google Home/Alexa etc.

In other words, how come I can't find something like this for Australian devices:

The closest are lots of products like this, none which are rated for outdoor use:

I've tried searching on this forum and elsewhere, can't find any products or any info on why such a Outdoor Smart Plug In Socket doesn't exist for Australians.

  • Seems like if one wanted to control the water feature pump time, then would have to use something like this: https://www.bunnings.com.au/hpm-24-hour-heavy-duty-weatherpr…

Am I missing something, why don't we have Smart Outdoor Plugs/Timers/Switches in Aus?

  • Low demand. I don't think there is huge demand for regular ones so no one is going to mature a water proof over. I have gone assistant and heaps of bulbs, chintzy sensors, motion sensors. Would also like what you're chasing but haven't seen any.

  • Kogan have these ones, currently out of stock:

But they are just rebrands so you might find the same thing elsewhere under a different brand.

If you don't get about buying locally then banggood has these.

    • Those banggood ones look like actual outlets that will need installation though

Could always buy whatever smart plug you want, small extension lead, and a weatherproof extension lead box big enough to take the plug.

    • Seems like what I suggested but with extra steps #rickandmorty

  • I'm actually looking for something similar as we are getting a patio put in, and I've found some Outdoor GPOs which support zigbee or WiFi @

Not currently in, but definitely on my list to explore with my electrician.

    • Hey Pax, did you end up going with the Mercator Ikuu series? I'm looking for smart power points now (indoor 2 gang) and there doesn't seem to be much first-hand experience with these ones online.

        Hey @undocked838,

No, as Mercator is containing their own ecosystem, and I wasn't interested in going outside SmartThings and Google Home integration.

There are other smart GPOs which you might be able to put in a weather protective case, but getting one which is deep enough is a challenge. I decided on getting dumb IP44 GPOs based on the required use. For the main lighting I decided on smart downlights and putting in a single 'master' switch if there is a requirement for dumb control.

  • I've used the DETA Grid Connect Smart Outdoor Double Power Point 6294HA, about $70 from ebay and slightly more from Bunnings. Seems identical in form to the Mercator Ikuu; both Grid Connect and Mercator seem to be white-labelled Tuya.

First DETA outlet had a faulty LED, Bunnings replaced it without question. Other than that, works well. It provides power measurement as well (voltage and total current across both outlets).

  • Same need here, I need one for controlling my outdoor low voltage lights and one for the Christmas lights would be great but I haven't been able to find one. I think I will be using a normal one with some kind of cover, which I'm still not sure how I will be doing. Hopefully the will be available in Australia soon.

  • In the same boat looking for one, just spotted this at bunnings, might do the trick

  • Bunnings have an IP44 rated smart plug now:
Arlec Grid Connect Smart IP44 Heavy Duty Timer

  • Same problems here but even harder. I am looking for an outdoor Australian power socket to give to my electrician to put in that is Apple Home(Kit) or Matter compliant. The rare few I’ve found are only Alexa or Google.
