Free Faker Album 'Get Loved'

620

The Sydney-based band Faker have decided to release their latest album 'Get Loved' today for free as opposed to the originally planned January 2012. The detailed reasons behind this can be found on the website but it has been blamed on "a less than well-attended tour" and "people [being] unsure of who or what the band is".

The download is a 256kbp/s CBR MP3 and includes album art. I hope you enjoy it, it seems really good so far.

Great band, great first two albums. Sad to see it happen this way.

  • They are trying to boost their fan base and popularity. I will check out their music but I am pretty biased towards classic rock so it may not be to my liking.

  • Faker were my great hope for Australian music… I hope this helps them get back to what they should be.

      1. Your link doesn't work because when you submit your email address it creates a unique url that you can't share.
      2. I think that giving your email address is the least you should do for a free album.
      • Just use mailinator if you're worried about spam.

        • The subscription confirmation also has an unsubscribe link if you want to opt out immediately.

  • Cheers, will definitely check it out :D

  • Love their work…

Addicted Romantic was an excellent Aussie album.

  • This could be a defining moment in music history. A relativity small band releasing their album for free. They are not even asking you to "pay what you feel" like Radiohead. I hope this works out well for Faker and good on them for having the balls to do it.

    • This is a really good album

I won't discount the fact that this is a great initiative. Yet I wouldn't call it a defining moment. 5 years ago, maybe, but now there are plenty of other 'smaller' bands that have done this. Some of the bigger ones, like Nine Inch Nails have done it too. Still, a great and respectable effort by Faker. All the best to them.

      • Yeah. It's good to see them trying something different for themselves, but as a whole its not anything new and I don't think it'll do a lot to help them in other countries where their name won't stand out any more than any of the other small unknowns offering free albums. It might help their Australian market a bit but.

    • Paul Dempsey had a good album for free on a deal here recently. I just checked and it's still up.

Again, might not be exactly your taste, but for nothing it's well worth it…

Haven't listened to the album yet - but loved Faker's first two albums & they deserve better than this. Good luck to the boys & thanks to the OP.

  • I only really liked 'Hurricane', but I haven't seen them played on anything else than JJJ and a few other notable inner city stations.

They did a cover on the Easybeats tribute album 'Easy' that was fantastic though!

  • what an initiative, and good on them for all the hard work. very grateful. thanks faker!
