Washing Machine Hose Leak at The Back

https://i.imgur.com/EqIlym1.png

Water spurts out from there. Try taping but water comes from the inside rather than around the seal. Pipe looks fine, rubber seal insides also looks fines.
What else should I try before just buying a new pipe?

Thanks.

There's an o-ring that prevents water leaking from where you've indicated in the photo. If there's a leak it is either because it has not been tightened properly or the o-ring is missing.

Unscrew both hoses and compare it against each other to see if any part is missing?

Or the O ring is faulty. It's rare but it happens.

If it's not perfectly circular and flat, just replace the O ring.

Replacing the whole hose is a bit of work if uninitiated.

        Or not seated flush/properly maybe?

  • You're supposed to replace the pipes every 5 years anyway.

    • That's what my GP said…

      • That makes no sense.

          That's what I said…

15 years. Zero replacement of parts. Runs fine.

Always having to stop it from running too far.

    Replace it.

I recently had the same problem.
Fixed it myself in a few hours, I had no idea what I was doing just watched Youtube videos and thankfully never had a problem since.

    1) The connection where the pipe meets the machine may be leaking. You could try clamp it up with a very cheap plumbing clamp or 2 (https://www.bunnings.com.au/kinetic-21-44mm-304-stainless-st…). This may work?

    2) Or the pipe itself could be leaking. Replace with something like (https://www.bunnings.com.au/kinetic-2m-grey-pvc-washing-mach…) at about $40 it's a rip off, but I didn't have the time to shop around. This process will take at least a few hours. Make sure you clamp the new pipe properly. Don't buy the expandable hoses, they are terrible and don't last.

    Good luck!

Did you look at their photo? It's an inlet pipe. You sound like you had an issue with your waste pipe given you are talking about clamps and you linked a waste pipe.

The OP needs an inlet one…eg https://www.bunnings.com.au/boston-2m-double-ended-washing-m…

But if they want to replace the whole pipe, they should just take the old one with them to ensure replacing the correct type and length.

      • Yeah I probably go with this advice. Found some universal inlet hose on ebay https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/18CW150-1-5M-WASHING-MACHINE-INL…

Looks the same, $15. I tried visiting Bunnings but they said best bet is to get replacement part from Fisher and Paykel. Cost like $35 + $15 from offical F&P page from Amazon.

Could also go to some pluming supplier but I'm not too handy and dont know any tbh.

        • That one says cold water only?

Bit risky for $15 saving imo, but each to their own.

      • Totally missed the URL.
        Scrap my advice…. Hehehehe

rubber seal insides also looks fines

They can look fine but be faulty. Water under pressure will follow of the path of least resistance. A tiny imperfection in that washer and the water will find it.

It's probably the cheapest part to replace so I would start with that.

  • Just squirt some sellys no more gaps in there and she’ll be right

  • I'd take the hose to Bunnings and either replace the hose or grab the washer out of the end and just replace that.
I'd have thought being on the inlet, it would just be the filter washers like these but they may just be on the tap end, not the machine end… it may just be a 19mm flat washer on that end?
