Hot for 3 plans x 2. Any thoughts?

Just got an email from Three reminding me that I actually have two services with them.

Found out they were both Hot for 3 plans.

Also, when I rang Voda, they offered me a 'Hot for Vodafone' replacement deal. $10 mth/min spend includes $20 credit. Low rates. $240 total commitment across 24 months.

In addition to the Hot for Vodafone rates (see: http://img842.imageshack.us/img842/8262/20110903190253.jpg) I was offered $100 credit and 10% off the second service if I 'upgraded' both services.

Seems like a decent plan to either keep or to switch to Hot for Vodafone.

Any thoughts?

Info everywhere is sketchy:

Some people on Whirlpool got 1GB of data thrown in monthly across 24 months. Others got good prices on handset repayments. Samsung Galaxy S2 for $10/mth (ie making total cost $480!?).

Anyone care to chime in on their experiences?

  • My 3 Plan was as follows:
    - iphone 3GS - $5 monthly handset repayments, plus
    - $49 plan ($350 credit + 1.5GB of data + 300mins 3 to 3& voda calls)

Plan expires next month, and I called them up. My new plan is (still waiting for the new simcard)
    - Voda network
    - no phone, BYO
    - 50% of their $35 cap plan ($550 credit, 1.5Gb of data, unlimited calls to 3 & voda numbers).
    - can use entire credit to make int'l calls

    and it's only 6 month contract. So .. 6 x 17.5 = $105.

What happens after 6 months, well, i am waiting for ip5 :)

    • I think the Hot for 3, First on 3 etc plans are pretty attractive.

      $10 minimum spend
Unlimited Vodafone to Vodafone and 3 standard national voice calls
      $20 included value
15c per 30 secs + 35c flagfall Standard national voice calls
      15c Standard national TXT
      24 month contract
Minimum spend over 24 months $240

So far, seems like people have had these handset deals:
      HTC Sensation: +$5/month
      HTC Sensation XE: +5/month
      Sensation XL: +$10/month
      Galaxy S2: +$10/month
      iPhone 4S (16/32/64gb): +$15/20/25/month

Total cost for some of the phones + minimum spend = less than retail cost of the phones!

But seems like mileage varies. Some people have reported getting extra 1GB of data, others have had higher handset repayments. Weird.

  • interested in selling?

    • yeah, I'm also interested in buying one.

  • There are plenty of people in forums who regret moving from 3 to Vodafone. Do some research before you make a move that can't be reversed.

    • thanks for the reminder…i'll keep my 3 till all the issue cool down abit.

      cheers

  • Update.

I upgraded one of my lines.

    Got the SGS2 for $0.

Got 1GB of data added every month for 24 months.

Total min cost over 24 months? $240 ($10/mth)

    Sweet!

    • Really?! Nice work!
Those are the same conditions I want, but I haven't had any luck getting that deal. They said they can give me the 1gb/month but it would still cost $15/month for the SGS2.
Care to share which number/department you called and how you got them to agree with your terms? =P
I have two phones on family and friends on 3 at the moment.

      • I rang the upgrades line.

Just tell them you have a Family and Friends on 3 and want to swap across to Hot for Vodafone. They will then transfer you to the 'upgrades' team.

You might have to speak to different people to get the deal? One person I spoke to didn't want to offer me the 1GB/mth but offered the SGS2 for $0. I hung up and rang again.

I did this before Christmas and before the $29 SGS2 plan expired. Perhaps the handset price of the SGS2 went up after expiration of this plan?

The HTC Sensation XE is now on the $29 plan. Perhaps you could get that for $0?

If so, I'd be interested in a swap. Heh.

        • Hmm, I tried the morning of the 24th, which is the day the deal was concluding. I would have tried more times but I had work that day.

Do you think it has anything to do with usage patterns? Have been spending close to the minimum $10 per month on one number and about $20 on the other.

haha so you don't like the SGS2 any more?

        • you want to trade the SGS2 for HTC XE?

  • I was offered $20 a month (for handset) on a $49 monthly plan for 12 months for iphone 4s (16gb). I was with 3 and just recently moved to vodafone. Is this a good deal?
