  • What does ''to help clearly reproduce" mean? Does that mean, it tries but doesn't get there?

Maybe this will make Matthew McConaughey's dialogues clearer, lmao

No hopes for Mr Nolan then ?

      • mmmmmkay

I use it for my James Reyne albums.

        • Does it work? I will buy.

  • For anyone wondering, here are the inputs. No HDMI:
    - Optical audio input (digital)
    - Coaxial audio input (digital)
    - 3.5 mm aux input (analogue)

    Also has Bluetooth.

  • this or the Sonos Beam?

    • Sonos Beam has HDMI Arc if that’s important to you. Also includes Alexa and Google Assistant built in.

      • +1

but this is half the price.. if that's important to you as well.

        • Yes. Was just about to add that the cheapest for Sonos Beam seems to be $440.

          • @Doowyah: I know unrelated to this thread- but
Sonos beam vs Sony HT X8500 ?
Does anyone have experience with both?

    • Audio quality definitely the beam, budget option which is better is the Yamaha 109 which I've seen here on discount too. I have the 106 and I love it. I also have the beam in my bedroom.

      • do you think the beam is good enough for a living room ? or too small? considering i wont get the sub or any other sonos products

        • +1

You can always expand later on. What I did to improve mine is I bought 2 symfonisk speakers from ikea for additional rear left and right channels. They're Sonos inside and can be configured with the beam from the app. They're only 150 each and definitely sounds a lot better especially if you want cinematic sound. If budget permits then the arc will be the best if you just one piece rthats powerful, even that can be added with the symfonisk speakers :)

No HDMI input? You must be 'aving a laugh!

    • sorry if i sound ignorant but why does HDMI input matter so much? don't most tv's have 3.5mm aux or optical audio?

      • +3

HDMI eARC can transfer a much higher audio bitrate than any of the inputs on this soundbar. So if you want the best audio quality you need eARC. Though you wouldn't be buying this soundbar if you were an audiophile anyway.

      • would also allow you to control the soundbar via hdmi. pretty handy.

      • HDMI eARC for multiple sound format support and HDMI CEC for ease of use.

This is like a very powerful bicycle, yes it's cheap, but it's still a bicycle doesn't catch up with motorbikes or cars.

A soundbar with no HDMI? Aldi have a $99 Philips soundbar with HDMI ARC and remote on sale today.

  • Looks like it's out of stock at DJs online but it's available for the same price at Amazon:

  • I have this and was disappointed with it from the get-go.
