  • How have you not seen any of the front page laptop deals?

I just don't know what constitutes a good computer so it's hard for me to know what a good deal is. I've just been getting a greysonline refurb every few years.

If you see any good ones let me know though!

All it's really used for is streaming to my tv.

What are you streaming? if its the std netflix, prime (amazon) disney etc why not just get a decent new smart Tv that already has all those apps installed and such?

    • Netflix and youtube are perfect off the smart tv but i use foxtel go as I get it for free so can justify the laptop purchase.

Foxtel can be downloaded on Sony, LG and Samsung TV's.

      • so at the end of the day you'll do whatever justification to get a laptop no matter what the damage? as pointed out foxtel can be accessed from major smart tvs and a new smart tv is far cheaper than a laptop

    • Or even a TV box. I have a xiaomi mi box which works really well with streaming services.

The Xiaomi Mi Box S goes for ~$80. Review here.

  • Think about an iPad. Or even Apple's new MacBook Air, it's actually priced competitively against windows ultrabooks for the performance you get. If you're still computer illiterate after being alive for so long and owning your Del, maybe it's time to step into the more consumer friendly side of things with Apple. Apple design their hardware and software with regular people like you in mind. The new Air is completely silent, doesn't even have or need a fan. It'd make your old Del seem like a relic.

    Budget?

How responsive do you want your laptop to be?

Have you considered a dedicated steaming device like Google TV?
