Cuisinart Combo Steam + Convection Oven $249 Delivered @ David Jones

140

I was ordering a Breville Smart Oven Pro from a recently posted deal when some research led me to this comment.

A quick Google search later led me to this hidden gem of a deal from DJ. Stock seems to be quite plentiful as many stores in NSW list this to being in stock.

Enjoy!

      It’s a smart oven

    • Yurky rust.

I would like to be able to make simple cakes, does this sort of oven work for that purpose?

    • You're supposed to wipe it dry after use.

We have this oven and love it. It is really well built. It is fantastic for Chinese steamed fish.

      • This person done exactly that after each use.

I am careful to wipe it dry inside, the rack and the drip tray after every use but now it’s starting to rust. I contacted customer services / warranty twice but they have not bothered acknowledging me. What a waste of money

        • When I checked just now, I saw brown spots. But they turned out to be grease from using it as an oven. I suspect some of the oil leaked out when I used it for steaming. I wonder how many people mistook their grease for rust.

Not mine - no rust. And I’ve had two which we’ve used everyday for many years every day.

It’s got elements top and bottom which can b3 used in various combinations. It has a water tank and can also steam things. I haven’t used the steam function, but it’s great as an oven, toaster, griller.

  • Anyone know how does it fair baking bread?

    • Sorry, haven’t tried but it’s basically a small oven.

      • Would love to know as well but the max 230c seems to.be way too low for my breads. I heat our oven to 275. 250 may be ok but that's without the steam function afaik.

    • Not bad, actually. It can help proof the bread quite well too.

  • How can you not use metal foil packages - like no aluminium foil cover?

From the instructions, “ Oversize foods, metal foil packages and utensils must not be inserted in the oven, as they may involve a risk of fire or electric shock.”.

    • Possibly if they’re just laid on top, the heat might lift it and short an element on the top. If you prevent it lifting I can’t see a problem.

  • I do not like how the door was made. Flappy black plastic rim around, check out in Myer before you buy.

    • Don't see any issue with it. It's designed to be airtight for steaming.

  • I have had two of these for many years and neither of mine have had any rust. Recommend. We use it multiple times daily.

    • Maybe if you used the steam function a lot and didn’t dry it out between uses?
