Sony X9000H 65" or Samsung Q70T 65"

I'm looking at a TV for next gen gaming, + good quality streaming. Currently thinking about the Samsung Q70T 65" and the Sony X9000H 65". They're currently the same price at JB, so I'm hoping one will drop below 2K on black friday or early next year. Which one is a better TV for Xbox Series X?

Hard to say, if your plan is to take advantage of HDMI 2.1's 120hz, I haven't found much info on how well the Samsung handle it but the Sony has a blur issue which they're apparently working on fixing.

The Sony has a lot of promised features but hasn't quite delivered just yet. That said, you can compare the specs yourself:

    https://www.rtings.com/tv/tools/compare/samsung-q70t-vs-sony…

The big difference to most people is that the Q70T lacks FALD which offended many people as the earlier(more expensive) Q70R had it though the Q70T is actually a replacement for the Q60R so I don't get the fury everyone has. Is it just the name?

I personally don't see a big issue with it lacking FALD as it's a VA panel with an already excellent contrast ratio & when it comes to gaming, FALD can often introduce unwanted effects.

If FALD is essential, go with the Sony or consider the Q80T. Either way, wait for the Black Friday sales & see what sparks your interests.

    • Do you think the Sony X9000H blurring is something that will be fixed by patching?

      • I wouldn't know but Sony is reportedly trying so probably. It's supposedly a bandwidth issue.

Full HDMI 2.1 is 48Gbps, LG OLED's can't handle 120hz & Dolby Vision simultaneously as, by design, they cap out at 40.

iirc the Sony is only reaching 32 but earlier on everyone was saying that it was full spec unlike the OLEDs, so either they were wrong or there's a bug limiting it from reaching max.

My opinion for 120hz HDMI 2.1 capable TVs (For my Series X):

    1 - LG CX

2 - Q80T or X900H (I prefer the X900H as I prefer darker blacks but other than that, the Q80T is the better choice)

    3 - Q70T

4 - LG Nano86 (Terrible dark room performance but good budget TV if you're playing in a well-lit environment

Im waiting for the Black Friday deals in hopes the CX drops in price. Otherwise, Ill be happy with the X9000H (Given they fix the 120hz blur issue)

Wonder if the 55" Q80T will be on sale..
The price of the 55" X9000H is the cheapest i've seen. Might end up going for that

      • It's annoying because I've seen it cheaper. It's price increased over time…

        All I want is a 55" 120hz HDMI 2.1 tv for around $1k.

        • Maybe the Nano86 will drop around that price for black friday?

          • @jsediv: Maybe, I'd actually going for it but only if no 120hz VAs they're that low, though I'd also go for an OLED if the BX goes around $1600 like the B9 did last year, but I just don't see it happening.

Prices have been funny this year, like my 5 year old car went up in price from when I bought it 2 years ago.

    • Which page is the Q80T 65? I can only see the 75.

  • I’m after a Sony 65” X9000H. I hope we get a nice Black Friday sale price of around $1800.

    • I would pull the trigger on that deal straight away.

      • Fingers crossed 🤞

      • The box damaged models are on sale on eBay. I got the 65” model for $1990 shipped with 3% off code PLUS3.

    • Are you concerned about the blurring issue?

      • Not particularly. I think they will fix it via firmware.
