How firm?
Super firm
That's what she said
We have the Tempur Firm original mattress and like it. I think it cost $600 or so on special for the floor stock. Bear in mind that the RRP is generally double or more what you can expect to pay if you buy in store. Visco elastic mattresses like Tempur and Koala can get quiet warm, but I still prefer them to inner spring. If you do go inner spring, make sure you get a pocket spring one to reduce partner disturbance.
i have assured firm and it's pretty firm. though have not tried others to compare it against.
Im thinking to get assured firm
We have the Slumberland Stonehenge mattress from Snooze; its firm and supportive with good edge support. The kids have the ZZZ assured firm one which is good in the centre of the mattress only. Edge support is missing on these but not really an issue at their weight.
sleeping duck and if you dont like it they take it back within 120 days money back no question asked
and you can change the firmness once you bought the mattress by adding or removing the 'layers' in the mattress
i cant sleep on a non firm mattress i tired koala but they werent firm enough then when to sleeping duck and it was amazing you can adjust the firmness of the mattress however you want
plus sleeping duck is 100% Australian and doesnt use child labour whereas kola has recently moved there production to overseas
would recommend getting sleeping duck and if you dont like it you get full money (thunk its 120 days)
it's also $1,799 for a king (their current "promotional" price) - OP asked for below $1k
Definitely the Koala. CHOICE tested 42 mattresses and it's the only one they rated hard. Only an uncomfortable Clark Rubber rated firm.
Slumberland Stonehenge - medium.
I have a Onebed and highly recommend. Its on the firmer side. 120 day free returns as well.
Have owned it around 3 years and we would def purchase againAny reasonable matress and put a sheet of ply wood under it. It works.

Been using it for 3 months, pretty good.
If you're in sydney, visit their Auburn warehouse to check the mattress out.
Does anyone have any experience with Sleep Republic? As they seem to be closest to sleeping duck but less price and maybe even arguably better?
Koala make firm mattresses
