DJI Tello Drone - White $148 Delivered @ MobileCiti

150

Looking for a cheap drone I could write some code for and try controlling.

Seems cheap although the specs aren't that good (720p Camera)

I am unsure if I could price match with Officeworks who are selling for $169. However, it says only available online with click and collect.

I bought one to launch myself into drones a month ago. It is just horrible. Can't hover in place in a room with windows and doors closed, let alone outside. Drifts and is easily blown by slightest wind. Would not recommend.

    • Thanks for the info, however they're a lot of videos on youtube like the one attached which seem to work fine.

I just tried it out of the box without any programming or other/3rd party software.

Not sure why you're being downvoted for giving your first hand experience

I had access to this drone. At $148, not worth it. At $80 it's a fun indoor drone.
It's very easy to handle and can hover without any issues.

      Battery is abyssmal tho..

    • I got one, its VERY easy to handle, drives well indoors and also does plenty tricks (flips and such). So I feel like you might wanna get yours checked out.

I own one, purchased for $95 from Telstra Rewards. It hovers by using its downward looking sensor, i found that I can fly it round my house and depending on what is underneath it, it sometimes has trouble keeping still.
Flying outside is good, it is fine in light winds, but photos/video are always at a 45 degee angle in winds (no gimble, only image stabiliser) - which shows how much it has to fight the wind to stay stationary. Paid $8 for a different android app to use, which increases the max altitude to 30m, without this it would be a massive dissappointment. Also got a portable wifi repeater/extender (tp link), this also helps a lot with range and video not being too choppy.

Overall, I agree with the other comment here, at $148 I would say not worth it, but under 100 it is a good little toy.

    Has been lot cheaper before.
If you really need it, wait couple of days/week least.

    • Thanks for the info, will wait

Bit pricy at $148, they have quite often been sub $100, even as low as $75.

As above, they don't like even the slightest of breeze. But mine does hover fine inside and even outside when not windy.

They are still a great little beginner unit, probably the best for the price range.

  • strongly not recommend the tello, buy any drone you can afford from dji except this one…

  • Agreed, I bought it for my sons xmas pressie last year thinking it'd be an upgrade over the kmart one's but it's not. The firmware sucks. It's never been able to hover without moving. It's so bad he doesn't even use it.

  • HOLD for Black Friday Sale, especially when I saw this going for as low as $80 before.

Also this is kids toy, if you're going to spend might as well got for the mavic mini. That is way better in every aspect.

  • the price increased a lot. i purchased from jb hifi 2 years ago, it was only$68…

  • I got this. https://www.kogan.com/au/buy/ryze-tech-tello-drone-powered-d… I waited for ever for it to be shipped but I eventually got it and it works well. You have to fly it in good light else it will drift.
