    As a non-Steam game it can be added to your library.

    You can however adding a non-Steam games on Steam allows you to use the steam overlay etc for that game. MS store is a independent of steam (currently $50). Only benefit of buying from MS store is that Gears of War 5 is one of the many Xbox Play Anywhere titles. Meaning when you own an Xbox Play Anywhere digital title, it’s yours to play on both Xbox One/Series and Windows 10 PC. Gears 5 also supports cross-play across Xbox One and PC (Microsoft Store and Steam).

    You get to try out Gears 5 Ultimate Edition, Forza Horizon 4 plus lots more. Windows 10 is required.

    If you really love Gears 5 and must keep it forever, then you could consider buying this.
