  Feel for the growers :(. I grow them in my backyard to turn the soil, how they can do this on scale and survive is beyond me. I get economy of scale etc but it hurts to see these prices :(.

    maybe for other crop but for potato it's dead easy, just throw them to the ground and doing nothing you'll get the crop.

      Like I said, we grow them in our backyard (my backyard is about 25,000 sqm), so we grow a few. They aren't hard to grow, our first earlies turn in around 12 weeks where I am.

      Growing them isn't the problem - pulling, cleaning and distributing them is the problem. You can't do it for 20c a kg from farm to plate without taking something out of someone's pocket or employing unpaid labor to pull, wash and transport your potatoes.

      All I was saying was I feel for the farmers growing these.
