15% off Nintendo eShop, TCN The Kids/Teen/Him/Her/Cinema/Pamper/Pub&Bar/Restaurant, Google Play Gift Cards @ Coles

8329

Saw this today at Coles.

15% off gift cards including Nintendo eShop, The Kids/Teen/Him/Her/Cinema/Pamper/Pub/Bar/Restaurant gift cards and Google Play gift cards ($50-100 only)
Starting 25/11 ending 1/12

UPDATE: cards not activate or not scanning/discount at checkout. Coles are pulling all cards out and refund. Some people reported some cards are fine. Wait until this is resolved. Such a shame.

UPDATE 2: some people reported that JB-Hifi has lifted the restriction on $500 max Gift card purchases, so you could try your luck. Please buy max 5 cards only and leave them for other people (including me, haha, got none so far) so everyone can have a smiling Black Friday purchases.

PARTY IS OVER. Well done to those who got the cards. Pity to the people who could not get the cards (me too, tried 5 times, gave up, friend gave me few cards). What a good deal with such a shameful operation that left many people frustrated.

        • I am also planning to use in-store. This is what i saw at TCN website FAQ-

Using your card in store is very easy - simply present your gift card at the participating retailer to swipe at the eftpos terminal. Select "SAVINGS," enter the PIN on the back of card and you're done.

If the transaction amount exceeds the card’s balance, you will need to pay for the remaining amount on a different card or cash.

      • That's what i'd like to know as well. Confused by all this conversion talk. is that if you intend to make online purchases where there's a limit on number of cards used, or is that step necessary for in store purchases as well

  • How does the pub card work?

Can you really use it at any pub or bar?

Does the pub or bar lose a cut of it?

How can they afford to make it 15% off?

  • Oh this is nice! I’m actually looking at a iPhone 12, new M1 Mac Mini and an Apple Watch! What’s the best way to play this game lol

    • +1

I am going a Watch and MacBook Pro M1 - just going to drop $3k+ And wait for JjB HiFi 10% sale.

      • +1

Those 10% sales wouldn’t include phones or watches right? Maybe not even the new M1 Macs this time.

        • +1

I am not sure what will happen during Black Friday sales but only the Mac I am expecting to be 10% off. Usually almost models including just released are included - only customs and iMac Pro I have seen excluded.

          • +1

@Gradesbrah: Dang they don't have the mini I want, just 8gb RAM models, I want the 16gb so will be custom :(

  • can we do the exchanging to jb and purchasing through jb with the gift code all online?

    • Yes.

      • Where is the link? On the JB website or TNC website? Thanks

  • I wonder if you get flybuys points for these cards? Would be a nice way to earn a bunch of those knives credits

    • +3

You get flybuys points when purchasing gift cards at Coles, but no knife credits. I bought a $50 gift card from Coles yesterday and received no knife credits.

      • +1

Damn. For once it would have been pretty sweet if this deal actually did come with a free set of steak knives lol

  • +1

Is this deal national wide or NSW only?

  • Can you add physical cards to their app wallet and have >$100 balance if they're the same type of card? Guessing that's too technical…

  • If we buy physical gift cards, is it possible to add these to Apple/Google Pay?

  • +4

Confirmed nationwide in this week's catalogue

  • Anyone think of best way to use a Coles gift card to get these gift cards?
Like should I go normal checkout with say 75 worth of usual shop and just say eftpos to pay and swipe away?
I’m guessing self checkout they’ll ask questions?

  • Also can I get 5x the kids card or is it one offs of each like the flybuys deals?

    • “Limit 5 gift cards per customer”

  • +4

So just to confirm have to buy these physically at Coles on Wednesday then present at JB Hi Fi when purchasing. Has anyone confirmed you can use more than one card per transaction at JB planning to use them to get an I phone with the 800 off thanks

    • +5

I just use 33 cards for a new iPhone so no problem.

    • +4

I called my local JB and they said it was alright, but better to be done when it's less busy.

      • Plus they may ask for ID when using so many cards. At least they have for me a few times ive used a handful.

        • Yeah that is what the guy on the phone said.

  • Was planning on going Wed night for the phone deals

  • Has anyone tried redeeming a physical card using the link for digital cards?

    https://cms.thecardnetwork.com.au/tcndigitalredemptionredire…

    • +1

Yeah I tried with a HIM card and it didn't work :( It looks like you can only do it for the HOME card or if you buy a digital card.

      • +1

Yep, this. Only works for Home cards.

I bough the Him cards with the recent Cashrewards 10% offer. I received the giftcards (they were MasterCard debit cards) via email, added via the TCN mobile app and then you can load to mobile wallet (Google Pay, Apple Pay etc).

I didn't realise they weren't actual gift cards at the time of ordering and I specifically needed physical/digital JB gift cards. In the TCN app once they're added there, you can click on each card individually and it gives you the full card number. I used this to purchase JB (digital) gift cards via JB's website and it worked fine.

Bit of a work around if you buy the Him/Her cards, but as I said I needed digital cards. Could have avoided buying the JB cards direct and provided the orginal emails with the TCN mastercards, but as a friend was getting me a staff purchase I wanted to make it as easy as possible for them.

        • So you were able to convert Him/Her cards to digital Jb Hifi cards through the app. Correct?

          • @proteus119: No. Once you generate the cards to the TCN app, you can select one to use for 'online' purchases. This reveals the full card number, expiry date and 3 digit cvv.

I used this to purchase dedicated JB gift cards via the JB website.

            • @BW296: But you don’t need the cardholder name on the Him cards which I don’t think there’s one when buying JB digital gift cards on their website?

            • @BW296: The thing is you had digital HIM cards which allowed you to add to the TCN app which then you said you used to purchase JB digital gift cards (without cardholder name?). I’m not sure physical HIM cards let you add to the TCN app. The TCN website doesn’t say you can or cannot. It says you need an activation code that comes with the SMS which means you would have to have provided your mobile number at checkout which I assume is only possible if it was an online purchase on the TCN website - as this Coles promotion is only on physical HIM (HER/whatever) cards, I don’t think this will work.

              • @dreamykitten: Yeah sorry about that. Did not even take into account these Coles ones were physical cards, oops! :p

Just to answer the question around cardholder name though. When buying the digital one you need to a enter a recipients name for it, then you just use that for the cardholder name.

Can't help with the physical cards, maybe give TCN a ring?

        • Great insight but you had digital cards as opposed to physical ones in this offer.
Don't know if it makes any difference at all.

          • @[Deactivated]: Yep my bad, as above.

Not sure how it works with the physical cards. Who knew gift cards could be so complicated….

        • mate you are awesome, i brought the same thing from cashrewards deal, much prefer jb's own gift card. never tried this method, there is always something new to learn at ozbargain.

  • Assume you have to the exact value on cards for what you are purchasing at JB or as long as you have the same or greater value and you retain the credit on one if the gift cards?

  • I need a $4500 TV - does anyone know how they typically enforce (or don't care) about the 5 per customer limit?

Can I go to self check out with a big pile of cards and pay for them 5 at a time until I have all done?

I note the TV and cards both go on sale on Wednesday.

    • +2

I doubt your local store will have that much of giftcard available to purchase.

    • +2

      I like " I need a $4500 TV".

  • +2

note that the hi. her come in $100
but kids teen are $50 max

  • +1

To get 15% off at JB Hi-Fi, we get "HIM" cards, right?

  • Does the Pamper, Pub & Bar & Restaurant Card worked wherever EFTPOS is accepted or does it need to be a venue of the correct type?
Seems like they may just be generic EFTPOS cards which are branded.

    • Mmm great point. I would also like to know! That could mean cheaper petrol and grocery

    • +2

No. I've tried Restaurant card at 3-4 non restaurant/cafe and it doesn't work.

  • With the 5 per customer limit, is there anything preventing you from purchasing 15 gift cards with 3 separate transactions?

    • I think you can

    • Probably just stock levels!

  • What value are the Him cards? or can I ask the staff to put 2k on there?

    • Usually $50 or $100 so maximum purchase $500 per transaction.

    • Max $100. No you can’t ask for $2000, max 5 cards per transactions (might need to do 3 separate transactions or go different times)

      • there are a few coles on my way to JB hifi so think thats what I will do, hopefully still stock at JB as their sale starts tomorrow night online

  • +1

So legit, those who work for Coles. Will you guys actually have these in stock and some?
Or is it gonna be on at 6am come Wednesday morning?

    • I was just at my local Coles to get a couple of things and had a quick check of the giftcard stand… It is going to be a nightmare. Might be enough $100 cards for the first person but even across the others for the $50 ones it isn't going to last long

      • Sounds like I'll be lining up at 7am at my local Coles…

  • Got to figure out the best way to buy about $3k worth for a new TV from JBHifi - hopefully can also buy with discounted Coles GC - some great sales if you can get them to stack!

    • I want to buy LG OLED 65" CX from JB Hifi, currently discounted to $3825, so would need 38 cards in total. Don't think single Coles shop would have that many? And if I do walk in/walk out thing surely their remember me and refuse to sell?

  • Is there a limit on how many of these you can use in one transaction at JBHF?

    • would like to know this as well.

    • Remember some said 8 in store 5 online for jbhifi gc. Not sure about for him or for her gc.

    • I read comments prior and they said they used 33 in one go lol

    • one guy used 33 to buy his iphone….

  • Anyone know if you can still buy JBHifi Giftcards to merge all these giftcards so they can be used in one transaction?

  • great

  • Just checking, I can buy $650 The Him Cards for $552.50 at Coles. And then use the cards to buy an Apple watch at JB-HiFi? So effectively a $649 Series 6 watch costs $552.50? Does it work that?

    • in 2 transactions

    • +9

I think the biggest equation for everybody is : If you can get the cards .

      • If no stock then fair enough, but I don't want to buy the cards then can't use them due to some peculiar T&C or exclusions, etc.

Aren't the cards all blank, they just load them up at the checkout, never though GC can run out. But yeah if someone grab all the blanks then they won't have any to sell.

        • +1

people hide the blank ones in store when the deal is posted and go back tomorrow to purchase them

          • @smeng: So hide them behind the canned beetroot. got cha!

          • @smeng: Sweet , hide right on the top shelves so short people can't reach them even if they spot them.

            Great Idea!

        • +1

I checked this morning, the cards are pre-valued in $50 and $100

  • Can you use the Xbox credit to top up game pass ultimate ?

    • +1

The Xbox credit can be used to buy anything for sale at microsoft.com, so yes you can use it to buy game pass ultimate.

  • One day only offer? Is this in store only (buying gift cards)? Or can you can buy them online too?

    • Starting 25/11 ending 1/12 according to the photo and the OP.

Not sure about on line though!

    • While stocks last !

  • +6

Ok. Let’s sort this out once and for all.

I’ve just purchased a physical $50 For Him gift card from Woolies.

What’s the process to convert this to a $50 JB hifi e-gift card online?

    • +1

      Try using this link: https://cms.thecardnetwork.com.au/tcndigitalredemption

If it doesn't work, the only alternative would be to go to your local JB Hifi and buy a Jb gift card with the TCN gift card.

      • +1

No doesn't work. Get the following error message "Card must be digital for redemption"

This link https://cms.thecardnetwork.com.au/swapform/46dbca821f7eee99c… gives the error message "Wrong card type"

      • Is there a limit as to how many JB gift card you can be purchased with the TCN card. Say $5k worth if I can find that many gift cards

    • +1

Go into JB Instore and buy a JB Giftcard with it.

      • Or try buying one online from the JB HiFi Website with the details on the physical card.

      • Can people please clarify the need to convert the card to a job hifi gift card? Is this for online purchases? What about in store? The giftcardhim website says you can use it in store at the eftpos machine so why the need to convert it to a job gift card

        • +1

You want to bring them all together. JB only allows 8 gift cards to be used in store and 5 gift cards online. So if you want to buy something thats 2500 thats 25 gift cards you want to go instore and use 8 of the 100$ His hers cards to put onto 1 JB gift card and repeat. That'll bring down to 4 gift cards that you can then use online/instore.

          • @PostingMan: I don’t know about in store but I know you can use more than 5 JB digital gift cards online in one transaction cause I did just that last week. Used 8 no problems.

        • Yes, for online purchases, as some of us don’t have a JB nearby and can only order online on JB to have items delivered, or if you have a JB nearby but want to click and collect in some circumstances.

      • I just checked the TCN T&Cs - It looks like there is a limit on the number of cards you can use at JB. It also says you can't use to purchase a JB gift card. I had this problem once before when trying to use these cards instore at JB
