      Thanks. Yes, not worth it unless you are looking to genuinely change your insurance.

    • I couldn't see whether this was before or after government rebate. Should be before, because they get their money either way but it is an insurance company….

      Assuming they use after rebate, the return is about ~45-48% (of premium cost for 3x months) if you manage to get in the bottom section of each bracket.

      As my current cover is minimal for tax purposes costing around $1.1k a year. If I would sub to BUPA for 3 months I would of spent 1.1/3 = ~$275 anyway.
      The only areas this make sense would be the $1k mark. I would spend $250 to make $120 = cost of $130.
      $275 - $130 = $145 profit for a lot of hassle. Getting my current PHI to issue me a prorata refund and also making sure BUPA pay out my woolies reward within the 3rd month.

      Premium Per Month Total Cost Woolies $ Return % Out of Pocket
      $ 1,000.00 $ 83.33 $ 250.00 $ 120.00 48% $ 130.00
      $ 2,000.00 $ 166.67 $ 500.00 $ 240.00 48% $ 260.00
      $ 3,000.00 $ 250.00 $ 750.00 $ 350.00 47% $ 400.00
      $ 4,000.00 $ 333.33 $ 1,000.00 $ 450.00 45% $ 550.00
      $ 5,000.00 $ 416.67 $ 1,250.00 $ 550.00 44% $ 700.00
      $ 6,000.00 $ 500.00 $ 1,500.00 $ 700.00 47% $ 800.00
  • Edit - didn't see the table from Manny Calavera

  • The Bupa rep said to not worry about promotion because it’s usually not worth it.

    All I’m saying is check whether promotion is right for you.

    Anyways Bupa is good and especially good for family. I can’t stress enough how good it is for kids up to 25 when you get the 3 specific extras package.

    • I know for a fact HCF covers under 25s.

      I don't know about the others.

  • Bupa is over priced, it maybe better to stick with medibank

    • If you want lower coverage lower rebate higher excess and incompetent staff who repeatedly withhold information reject claims, don’t know the difference between an annual and lifetime limit. I would suggest Medibank.

      I get great dividends from my stocks anyways
