Pricing Glitch? Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War $9.95 through Cross Gen Bundle Gifting

I thought i would post this in the forum as i can't confirm it works.

I saw this on slickdeals where if you have purchased the Call of Duty Cold War standard edition on Xbox One and upgraded using the $10 Series X/S bundle offer you then see it becomes giftable for $10 effectively meaning you can get the Series S/X version for 10 bux. Apparently you can only gift it twice per account.

I jumped on my Series X since i did the bundle offer and is saying i can gift the cross gen bundle for $10 and its down from $109.95 at 91% off.

    Does it let you do it only once? Maybe it's a special promotion after they found sales lagging. If a stimulus can help save an economy, then why not a recently released game too.

    Also someone on another forum said you can buy it at full price, gift yourself the upgrade bundle and refund the original game but I don't take responsibility if it does not work.

    Guys if you wanna go 1 step further.

    Buy the digital standard version for $100
    Then gift the update bundle to your own email.
    Request a refund for the standard edition.
    Onces refunds granted redeem update bundle code.

    COD for $10

    (I guess a couple of warnings.. not sure refunds are alwaya granted though they should, if too many ppl do they might catch on and block refunds or remove update bundle from console)

        You don't need the xsx. Just buy it from MS store online.

      Thanks @dazza83! The refund was instantly approved. I got 6000 MS rewards points from the Xbox punch card so effectively COD for $3.95 :P

          I purchased late last night so sounds like I got in just in time. I did it through the website using the credit card attached to my account. After purchase I went to the cross-gen bundle in the store and it was $9.95. Chose the gift option and emailed it to myself. Once I got the code I refunded the standard edition and once that was confirmed I redeemed the cross-gen code to my account.

            @j1nk0r: Nice - sounds like you got it in time. The option wasnt there today, it was just showing the full price for the next gen after purchasing the standard. Luckily the refund process was super quick (literally under a minute).

            The only risk now is if Microsoft close the actual loophole on the upgrade bundle and require you to have the base game - even then its only cost you $9.95 and you could probably try your luck and request a refund on that if they happen to close the loophole in the next few days. If the $9.95 option was there for me today i would have been willing to ride the risk for $9.95

          Yep - in the same boat, bought the digital standard version and am getting no option to upgrade at a cheaper price - just showing full price on the next gen bundle

    Anyone can do it alone really. I have done it and can confirm it works just fine by myself yet the risk remains so be careful.

    Buy the base game, then buy the cross gen bundle which will be 10 USD. then simply refund the base game. Easy as. I got it from the HK server store with Alipay as it will guarantee an instant refund. I have heard friends who bought from US store with PayPal that got delayed refund for 3 days which may be rejected essentially when Activision decides to block this glitch.

    The glitch is caused by the cross gen bundle being a base game plus a xsx game. No the 10 dollar is not for the upgrade Dlc. It's for 2 games in one code. Which means that Activision has made 2 versions of this game and is simply charging more for the next gen version. Or another way to look at this is that whoever bought the base game has bought a down graded version for 10 dollar less.

      • Buy upgrade pack ($9.95) does this give you an activation key?

      • Refund base game -$99.95

      Do you activate any of the activation keys before you have received the refund for the base game?

      Surely if you were requesting a refund for the base game then Microsoft would also refund the upgrade pack as well?

    FYI - as per my comments above it appears Microsoft have closed this loophole now and it doesnt appear to show any discounted pricing for the upgrade just the full price.

    What a good glitch. I would of liked to post it as a general Deal but it requires mucking around for most people and is not easily available.

      Doesn’t seem to work anymore - the discount price doesn’t show when you purchase the base game anymore
