These are great and more than loud enough for outdoor bbq area speakers (under cover).

I had an issue with volume control via the connected device. I contacted Edifier support who responded almost instantly with the the following:

    For Android devices:
You will need to disable absolute volume in the phone. First, enable developer options. To do this, go to Device Settings, then scroll down and select "About Phone. " From there, tap on "Software Information" and locate the "Build Number" entry. Once you've found it, tap on "Build Number" seven times in rapid succession, developer options will then be available on the settings menu of the phone. Go into developer options and toggle the button for "disable absolute volume." Restart the phone and this should allow you to control the volume of the speakers from the phone.

    For iOS devices:
Go to Settings > Music > Volume Limit, then use the slider to set the maximum volume.

    For Windows 10 devices:
Disable the absolute volume function on the computer by following these steps.
    1. Open Windows Registry (search for regedit.exe).
    2. Click on Computer>HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE>SYSTEM>ControlSet001>Control>Bluetooth>Audio>AVRCP>CT
    3. Then click on DisableAbsoluteVolume and set the value to 1

That is an awesome piece of advice.

hopefully it helps others with the issue. if it helps one person thats a win!

They really are good speakers, and more than loud enough. i can hear them 30m away at the trampoline :D

  • These speakers lack treble, but as background music speaker fine, As main speakers where you are attentive and wish to enjoy, not so good. the r1700 they did increase the range of the treble, but slightly thin/shrill but as main focus music speaker I perfer r1700. Depends on your use

    • Why not just buy a good brand of speakers?

Some people (like me) are tightwads and prefer not to pay through the nose for the brand premium, you should know…

Edifier is a good brand….. these are desktop speakers for a PC. People run into issues as they try to use them for different use cases.

  • Are there good for a record player?

They have analogue line in, but if you are buying records and you want to hear the full range/tone of the analogue record audio you won't hear the high end treble.

Ah ok. Thanks for that! Any other recommendations please?

  • These are great value for the money (for beginner audiophiles) and certainly a huge upgrade in quality having come from Logitech speakers

  • I'd strongly recommend listening to these before buying, if possible.

I bought these thinking that they would be an upgrade on a 15 yr old pair of 2 X 10w cheap Panasonic bookshelf speakers. I have some S2000 pro's in one room, so I was kind of hoping that these 1280s would sound pretty good.

They are certainly louder than my old speakers, and have more bass boom.
