Do You Really Need H4 Timber for Edging?

As per title, I'm looking at doing DIY garden edging using timber sleepers (Melb). Some of the sites I saw said you have to use H4 treated timber for edging if you will bury half the timber to prevent termites. But I saw in Bunnings this one is also termite resistant, so is it fine to just use that? The H4 is like $30~40 per 6metres and doesn't come in 25mm, only 50mm.

No, just a lot of self control

You can use h3 as long as you paint first. Spent motor oil does a great job at waterproofing the timber. Take your time give it at least two coats.

I always paint a self portrait before installing edging…

They will both prevent termites, the big difference is the resistance to fungal decay. The H3 will rot over time, the H4 is worth the extra money
