I swear Wayfarers used to be more boxy in shape than this. I've got a pair from about six years ago. Did they change the style?
Yeah, hence the New. They still sell the original style as Original Wayfarers.
Ah okay. Thought it odd that they might have scrapped such an iconic design.
I've had both. Obviously the style is subjective, but I also found them cheaper feeling and less stiff than the originals, plastic also felt less durable so keep that in mind.
2140 Wayfarers have a nicer hinge, i reckon. but the 2132s are lower-profile — better if you wear a cap a lot, like i do — and have less pantoscopic tilt
Damn, ozbargained.
the polarised were only about 20% off which is the same that sunglasses hut at myer were offering for walk in customers …… other deal is 40% off second pair which is about 20% off per pair ….. so not much better than 20% single pairs ……
Still quite expensive for non-polarised sunnies, just ditch Luxottica and support an Independent.
Here's a intro for those without context:
https://youtu.be/CAeHuDcy_bYWhat independent produces good glasses for less than this?
I have wanted to get those but no idea which ones are good.
I like Le Specs, great quality and reasonably priced.
Seconded, Le Specs always have good prices. Ironically they are an Australian brand, made popular globally when worn by Beyonce.
Bailey Nelson and Oscar Wylee come to mind, but there are likely quite a few more out there.
I recently bought a bailey nelson one on special, full metal frame, excellent glass quality & polarised, for $125.
Here's a list from this reddit , if you just want any non-luxottica brand
"Luxottica's main manufacturing competitor is Safilo, arguably a better producer of eyewear (also if you're familiar with what Luxottica did to Safilo a few years ago then you might not be interested in buying luxottica), the brands they manufacture are:
Alexander McQueen
Banana Republic
Hugo Boss (and sub brands)
Bottega Veneta
Dior Fossil Gucci JLO Jimmy Choo
Juicy Couture
Kate Spade
Liz Claiborne
Marc Jacobs
Max Mara Pierre Cardin
Saks Fifth Avenue
Tommy Hilfiger
Saint LaurentIn Australia a local company Sunshades Eyewear also produces/imports some brands that you may see out there. (there may be some doubling here as they act as a distributor for some of these brands):
Karen Walker
Sass & Bide
Le Specs
Oroton Ksubi Morrissey
Fiorelli Many "private label" brands, e.g. If sportsgirl has it's own eyewear, it's usually from this lot."
got a pair of 2140s for $110 less my $10 birthday voucher. at least i won't have to go into a store and hunt for something to buy.
These sunnies are soooooooooooo 2011.
Good price. The $97 are all gone but the others are discounted too. Next cheapest is $111.
